Cleveland Browns: Aim for Wins or Draft Position to Nab Justin Blackmon?

Mike HoagDec 2, 2011

Should the Cleveland Browns lose their remaining games in order to position themselves for the 2012 NFL draft?

On one hand, the young Browns could, perhaps, spoil home field advantage for rival Pittsburgh Steelers or Baltimore Ravens.

Despite those wins, though, both teams will likely capture yet another playoff berth come January.

The reality is the Browns were never expecting to make a playoff run in 2011.  Now they sit at an unflattering 4-7 heading into the “hard” part of their schedule.

As a fan, I’d love to see the Browns upset Pittsburgh or Baltimore and disrupt their playoff seeding.  However, as a realist, I have prepared—and you should too—for an extended losing streak to finish things in 2011.

In the end, sadly, the Browns will likely not have a choice.   As an organization, the Browns will try their best to win ballgames down the stretch.

Unfortunately for all those hopeful fans out there, their Week 10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars will likely be their last win of 2011.

Worse things can happen—and have happened—to the Cleveland Browns than a four-win season.

The best thing you can do now is hope that the other struggling teams pull out a win or two to end the season.  If Cleveland stays at four wins, the chances increase tremendously that they will be able to draft standout Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon.

What’s better—insignificant wins or Justin Blackmon?
