Curt Schilling Wrong To Think Boston Red Sox Hiring Bobby Valentine Was a Joke
Curt Schilling wasn't just a little surprised the Red Sox chose to bring in Bobby Valentine, he thought they were joking when he heard the news.
According to Schilling in the ESPN video below, he had about 50 candidates in mind that he thought would be potential choices for the Red Sox and Valentine wasn't on that list.
Schilling needs to chill out.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Valentine isn't some random guy they hired off a street corner. This isn't his first rodeo and somehow the Red Sox will survive even though they didn't get Schilling's stamp of approval.
Valentine has an intricate style of managing and Schilling doesn't think his personality is a fit, but Valentine has seen success in the big leagues.
Schilling was a great pitcher for Boston, but this isn't the same team he won a World Series with. This is a team that went through one of the most embarrassing collapses in the history of baseball and serious change is needed.
The Red Sox need a personality in their clubhouse that is as big as Valentine's. Schilling doesn't agree with the hire. Who cares?
Boston hiring a guy with over 2,000 games managed and a winning record isn't that absurd at all. The guys who are around the team every day have a better feel for who needs to be brought in.
Schilling isn't happy and that doesn't matter. Dale Sveum would have been a solid hire as well, but it didn't work out that way and that's okay.
This might not have been the best move the Red Sox could have possibly made, but Schilling alluding to 50 more qualified candidates he had in mind makes it clear why he's not calling the shots in Beantown.
