Oakland Raiders: Rolando McClain Needs to Distance Himself from Home Town
In a scary scene last night, Oakland Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain was at the scene where gunshots were fired.
There is no word yet if McClain had any involvement, or was the target of the shootings. However, McClain is a high-profiled person in his hometown, and an incident like this is why he has to stay away from Decatur, Alabama.

UPDATE 5:21 PM ET: This tweet just came across Twitter from Vittorio Tafur, an Oakland Raiders writer for the San Francisco Chronicle.
This isn’t the first time that McClain was involved in an incident where shots were fired while he was back home. Earlier this year, McClain had shots fired at his car. When police asked McClain about the incident, he told them that someone fired at his car. The cops then found a bullet in the rear door of his car.
The first incident could be looked at as bad timing. However, now, after a second incident in which he was involved with gunshots, someone has to wake McClain up about the dangers of his home town.
If McClain needs any direction of the dangers of going back to his home town, he should be reminded of the tragic story of the death of Sean Taylor. Taylor was shot and killed while at his home in Miami-Dade County. This incident happened after Taylor was accused of pointing a gun during a fight near his home.
The question to be asked here isn’t what McClain was doing, but why McClain was in Decatur last night?
With the Raiders not having a bye week and in the middle of a playoff run, McClain should have been in Oakland getting ready for the game against Miami. The Raiders are in Miami this weekend, with Alabama and Florida being geographically close. However, why did McClain get permission to travel back home last night?
The story right now is about McClain being near a place where shots were fired. It’s a very minor story for now. McClain was lucky that the story isn’t “Raiders Linebacker Shot” or “Raiders Linebacker Shoots Person.”
The old saying is “who says you can’t go home?” In McClain’s case, if he wants to stay alive, he will stay away from his home.
