Bulls Trade Rumors: Chicago Will Not Address Shooting Guard Woes Via Trade
Everyone and their mothers know that the Chicago Bulls need a shooting guard to complete the team and start a dynasty.
They aren’t going to address it this offseason by trading for one.
The Bulls simply don’t have the cap flexibility to acquire one they need in a trade right now without packaging someone like Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah or Luol Deng.
Moving any one of those three guys would be stupid and all are essential to their chances of winning the Finals.
Yes, even Boozer, who did not have the best postseason and was plagued by injury, is of utmost importance to hold on to because solid PFs don’t just fall into your lap.
So how do the Bulls address their hole at SG?
Look no further than the new amnesty clause in the collective bargaining agreement.
High-paid veteran guards will be cut from rosters left and right and the Bulls will need to pounce on one to upgrade from Keith Bogans at the 2.
Vince Carter and Rip Hamilton are two guys that may be willing to sign for the veteran’s minimum if they are released and paid in full by their old teams.
They are clear improvements and represent more complete players than the trio of Bogans, Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer that Chicago trotted out last season.
Sure, you can knock Vinsanity’s defense or Rip’s commitment, but watch what happens when they get coached up by Tom Thibodeau and have Joakim Noah’s intensity on defense rubbing off on them.
They also don’t need to be the stars of their team because D-Rose, the reigning MVP, is able to get off his shot whenever he needs to and is without a doubt a crunch-time scorer.
It makes a lot more sense to pick up a veteran amnesty casualty than swing a trade for the Bulls and that is exactly how they are going to fix their 2-guard problem and field one of the best and most complete teams this season.
