WWE News: WWE Reportedly Considering Turning Mark Henry Babyface “Soon”
The WWE does a lot of things wrong, but one of its best moves in the last couple of years was to move Mark Henry to SmackDown and turn him heel at the 2011 WWE Draft.
Henry had become almost completely irrelevant as a babyface, but his heel turn transformed him into one of the WWE’s biggest heels and a legitimate main-eventer for the first time in his career. I’m of the belief that Henry should always be a heel, but apparently, WWE officials don’t share my sentiment.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
"WWE officials have been discussing turning World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry babyface again. Henry is in the midst of the biggest push of his career and he’s gotten over huge as an unstoppable heel, but sources expect the face turn to happen sooner than later.
"
Is this a joke? I really hope it is.
Henry as a babyface just doesn’t work. He’s too big, too slow and not nearly charismatic enough for the fans to really get behind him as a good guy.
As a heel, on the other hand, Henry plays a character that fits him perfectly. He’s booked as a big bully, a truly unstoppable character who destroys just about anybody in his path.
It works because it’s believable to see a man with Henry’s size and strength act like he doesn’t care about anything but himself and his pursuit of a World Heavyweight Championship. Henry’s dominance is just like any other story where the biggest and the strongest survive and prey on the weak.
Now, turn him into a good guy, and he’s bound to flop. Other than the rare exception of someone like Batista or Sheamus, it’s really hard for fans to feel that babyface sympathy for someone like Mark Henry.
Why the hell should we ever feel bad for the guy when he’s 400 pounds and bigger and stronger than just about everyone on the WWE roster?
Well, we shouldn’t.
I truly hope the creative team doesn’t make a gigantic mistake here and turn Henry face. I’m not the biggest fan of the guy because his in-ring work leaves a lot to be desired, but making him a babyface isn’t going to lead to anything good.
That’s not my opinion, either. That’s a guarantee.
