NFL Power Rankings: Dallas Cowboys and Teams That'll Miss the Playoffs

Donald WoodNov 28, 2011

With another wild week of NFL football in the books, it’s time to get down to the crux of the Week 13 Power Rankings.

Teams like Dallas and Chicago have some bright spots, but they’re frauds. It’s that simple.

With tough schedules, injuries and at times a sheer lack of talent from all players on the field, these teams will fail to make the playoffs this season.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys still have Tony Romo at the helm. As long as he remains the quarterback of this team, they will not be a serious threat for a Super Bowl.

For all the fourth-quarter comebacks the man has had over the years, look at all the fourth-quarter meltdowns he’s had. We don’t remember the comebacks like we remember the meltdowns.

With games against the Giants, Eagles, Buccaneers and Cardinals left on the schedule, these are the kind of trap games that could leave the Cowboys 8-8 on the season.

Chicago Bears

While the Chicago Bears will continue to have one of the best defenses in the entire NFL to go along with a ridiculous special teams unit led by Devin Hester, they won’t have Jay Cutler.

With Cutler out for the season with surgery on his thumb, the responsibility of running the offense falls on the shoulders of Caleb Hanie. The teams on the Bears schedule are sharpening their teeth for this meeting.

Hanie will see the defensive onslaught from every team he faces, with teams stacking eight in the box to stop Matt Forte and force Hanie to air it out. It’s going to be a long five weeks for Chicago.

New York Jets

It was just a matter of time before the New York Jets defense found its swagger and started causing nightmares for their opponents. Too bad it will be irrelevant.

As long as Mark Sanchez is the quarterback of the New York Jets, they will not achieve Super Bowl success. It’s because Mark Sanchez doesn’t have that will to win the game that a player like Tim Tebow does.

With Sanchez’s poor ball security and a non-existent run game, the Jets will be doomed to a 9-7 record with no playoffs. See if Rex Ryan backs Mark Sanchez after that ending.
