WWE Survivor Series 2011: Rock's Return Was Fine but WrestleMania Must Be Better
Well, that didn't suck.
That was the first thing that came to mind as one of the most hyped Survivor Series in history concluded. I was fully satisfied, and my hunger for a truly memorable bout was quenched.
The only thing...my socks were still on. Maybe it was the buildup that negated the payoff meeting my expectations, but the tag team pitting John Cena and The Rock against the Awesome Truth failed to knock my socks off.

But that's okay. The clash was just what we expected and really, exactly what we wanted. The Rock and John Cena were victorious, ending the rampant run of The Miz and R-Truth.
The fact that Cena has been pummeled by fans lately made his treating The Rock to heel status seem preposterous. This was all about one thing. Getting the fans to buy The Rock as a superstar once again.
Without that key ingredient, next year's WrestleMania would be a letdown. Now we can all say that Rock has not missed one beat in his seven-year absence. The man even looks bigger than he did and his speeches are that much better.
So, we can say that the mission was very much accomplished in bringing back to life the wrestler and the mystique that he once lent to the ring.
Now for the bad part. The tag team battle was, in a sense, dull. Like I stated, it was exactly what we thought it would be coming in. Sure, there is something comforting to that end, but I want to be on the edge of my seat and then shoved directly from it.
That is where the second part of this two-part tale comes in. WrestleMania will get a few months of a marketing push that will create among the best hype we have ever seen from this land of sports and entertainment.
It is at that point that a trick must be taken from the WWE bag. This storyline and The Rock as a legend both deserve a flourishing finish like The Rock has given to so many heels in the past.
This epic story is on its way to a better end, but it must get there for it all to be worth it. The Rock's return to the ring is such a giant moment that something must be gained from it—something that will live on as one of the best moments in WWE history.
The players are all there. Now all we need is the end to the tale to match all the other ingredients.
