WWE Raw Preview: The Fallout of Last Night's Survivor Series
Last night WWE presented the 25th anniversary of Survivor Series.
It was a predicable show: I only got one out of the six matches wrong, but it was still good. We saw a new champion crowned and a new twist in the other World Title feud.
The results of last night’s show will surely affect tonight’s Monday Night Raw.

Fresh Backstage WWE Rumors 👊

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Dolph Ziggler Retained the US Title: Is Zack Ryder Next in Line?
In the opening contest Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison to retain the WWE United States Championship in quite the good match.
The Madison Square Garden crowd didn’t like seeing Morrison there and he got a lot of heat for it.
Throughout the match we heard the New York crowd chant “we want Ryder.” If there are any fans you listen to Vince, it should be the MSG crowd.
Thankfully, the Long Island Iced Z appeared post-match and attacked Ziggler as he was cutting a promo.
John Laurinaitis ignored Ryder’s Twitter petition and didn’t grant him his title shot in front of the always hot MSG crowd. Can Laurinaitis ignore the fact that Ryder got one of the biggest pops of the night?
Tonight on Raw I think we’ll get more to the story of why the interim Raw general manager doesn’t seem to like Zack Ryder. No matter what happens though, both wrestlers will be present tonight and their feud will be furthered.
What’s Next for the Diva’s Division as Beth Phoenix Remains the Champion?
In the always ridiculous lumberjill match, Beth Phoenix thankfully retained the WWE Divas Championship against Eve. I say thankfully because I personally find Eve boring.
Beth has taken down both of Raw’s top face Divas in Kelly Kelly and Eve. That brings us to the question: Who’s next?
There are only three other face Divas left on the roster. A.J. Lee and Kaitlyn have no chance at getting a title shot, though it does seem like A.J. is starting to get a following.
The most likely candidate is Alicia Fox, but we could very well see Layla if she’s ready to come back from injury.
Despite being the likely challenger, I think Kelly will end up getting another shot. The crowd cares nothing for Alicia and Eve, so Kelly is really the only face Diva the fans get behind.
Will we see the division continue to bore with another match we’ve already seen multiple times? Or will WWE surprise us and shake up the title scene?
Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes Survive: What’s Next for WWE’s Rising Stars?
Last night we got one traditional Survivor Series elimination match. Team Barrett defeated Team Orton in a match that saw Sin Cara botch another move and get injured, and Barrett and the Intercontinental Championship holder survive.
Rhodes has been gaining quite the following as of late. The MSG crowd chanted his name throughout the match, showing his popularity despite his heel persona.
MSG never followed the norm; they cheered for who they liked, not who they’re supposed to like.
Big things are in Cody Rhodes’ future.
Wade Barrett has been on a downward spiral since WWE dropped the ball on his push during the Nexus storyline. Recently, though, he’s been gaining steam and seems to be back in line for another push.
Big things are also in his future as well.
With the Raw WWE Championship picture being disgustingly small, will we see Barrett or Rhodes challenge for the Raw’s top prize?
It could be a while before the Big Show/Mark Henry feud is over, so if they wait their turn on SmackDown, what will they do next?
Mark Henry Retained the World Title and Paid for it: What Happens Now?
Mark Henry and the Big Show had another mammoth battle last night. The match was a lot better than their previous encounter, too.
Instead of the ring breaking and making the match a no-contest, we were treated to a disqualification finish. The Big Show won the match, but the World’s Slowest Champion retained the title.
We did get to see a huge top rope elbow drop from Big Show, so that was awesome. It garnered quite a few Macho Man chants as well.
Post-match Henry tried to injury Big Show once again, but this time the World’s Largest Athlete was ready. He put the chair between Henry’s ankle and give it a big 500 pound leg drop.
A lot of people, myself included, were disappointed that Daniel Bryan didn’t cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. This would have been the perfect opportunity, but he’s still apparently waiting for Wrestlemania, where all the focus will be on the Rock and John Cena instead of him cashing in.
Is the champion injured enough where the title will be declared vacant? If not, is Big Show getting another shot at the TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view?
No matter what happens, it’ll be interesting to see what this latest twist brings.
CM Punk is the New WWE Champion: Will Alberto Del Rio Get His Rematch and Continue to Bore Us?
For the past few weeks CM Punk has been saying what has been on everyone’s minds.
He told the world that he saw Alberto Del Rio as boring and uninteresting—there have been quite a few times where I’d literally fall asleep as he was talking. If people recorded Raw, they fast forwarded whenever Del Rio had a mic in hand. He was boring us all to death and was thus making the show and the WWE Championship boring as well.
Punk wanted to win the title to make Raw exciting again. He did just that and the MSG crowd loved it. No doubt a lot of people watching at home loved it as well.
Unfortunately we’re going to have to see Del Rio bore us for a little while longer. Odds are he will get his rematch and he will put us all to sleep as we approach the TLC PPV.
What will happen tonight, though? Will the Mexican aristocrat have to earn his rematch or will Laurinaitis just hand it to him?
The interim Raw general manager hates CM Punk, so it will be interesting to see what he does now that Punk is the champion.
The Rock Takes Out John Cena After the Victory: How Will Cena Respond?
The Rock returned to the ring last night and gained victory for his team after a People’s Elbow to the Miz. As Rock was celebrating he called John Cena back into the ring.
The Rock posed on the turnbuckle and the place erupted in cheers. Cena did the same and MSG hated his guts.
If there was a perfect time for the John Cena heel turn it was right then and there. WWE predictably didn’t pull the trigger on it. I guess they figured he’s hated enough already while being a face.
John Cena is like Nickelback; he has his fans but is overall hated by most.
The Rock then delivered a Rock Bottom and took out his Wrestlemania opponent.
How will Cena respond to once again being shown up by the People’s Champion? Will the Rock appear live tonight, via satellite, or not at all?
No matter what happens, we’re exactly where we started. Cena may be there every night but the Rock has his number.
The Most Electrifying Man in Entertainment has all the momentum for Wrestlemania. The PPV is five months away, though; a lot can happen in that time.
That’s a lot to consider, but there’s more.
We have to factor in Kevin Nash walking to ring and taking a turn in boring everyone on the mic. Local advertisements have been saying that Triple H and Nash will further their feud tonight, but the card is always subject to change.
Will the Game be back tonight to confront Kevin Nash?
Brodus Clay’s debut has been held off week after week. The first time because Laurinaitis didn’t want it wasted in England and last week because he felt the Rock would steal all of his spotlight.
Will we finally see the big man make his return? If so, who gets the unfortunate honor of doing the job?
Then there’s Jonah Hill. Does anyone really care?
Tune in tonight to see what happens!
