The Rock WWE: Return of People's Champ Will Be Bittersweet for WWE Universe
When The Rock returns to action at Survivor Series on Sunday night, there will be electricity running through the veins of the entire WWE Universe. At the same time, it will be bittersweet because there are full-time workers that will be left on the sidelines in favor of the People's Champ.
Even though some of the company's recent storylines, including the dissenter movement, have been intriguing enough to tune in on a weekly basis, Rock's return always takes the show to another level.
That should tell Vince McMahon something about his product.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
If it takes The Rock, Triple H and Kevin Nash to boost ratings to respectable levels, is the talent available on a nightly basis being used effectively? Right now, it's probably not.
Guys like Daniel Bryan, Drew McIntyre and Ted DiBiase among others have enough ability to at least be working at the mid-card level but were only pushed further out of the picture when the 90s crew reappeared.
For Bryan, it's likely a tear down before a major push leading up to WrestleMania, but there are several other guys who have become Superstars fodder that deserve better.
That said, there's nobody like The Rock. His promo ability is unmatched, as illustrated by John Cena's weak attempt to hang with Team Bring It's captain on Monday night. Perhaps more impressive is his ability to ignite any crowd, something CM Punk will need to do in order to become the face of the WWE.
Would WWE fans trade the development of a few mid-card angles for a couple appearances of Rocky? Of course.
But the company usually struggles in the ensuing weeks once The Rock returns to his alter ego, Dwayne Johnson, and they have to play catch up in other areas to make up for lost time.
The Great One will always be welcomed back with open arms by McMahon and the WWE Universe. Just don't start complaining about a sub-par product during the month of December because so much focus has been placed on The Rock and he'll soon be gone—again.
In any business, it's all about weighing the positives and the negatives. WWE is no different and it obviously believes the additional pay-per-view buys are worth risking a few boring shows it the future.
We'll soon find out if McMahon and Co. are right.
