WWE Survivor Series 2011: Which Match Will Be the Show Stealer?
Hello Bleachers!
The 2011 Survivor Series match card seems to be set in stone. Or at least will be after tonight's Smackdown!.
Looking at this card from top to bottom tells me one thing: There are some serious contenders for a show stealer.
Potential to steal the show doesn’t always lie in the main event of a card. In fact, it is usually the lower part of the card that takes the audiences breath away.
PPV matches that leave a crowd wanting more are extremely hard to come by. There are plenty of times where a PPV card doesn’t include a great match. You can find these type of matches at events like Capitol Punishment, Over the Limit, etc.
This year’s annual Survivor Series seems to be headed in the right direction as the build for all of the matches have been quite good.
Which begs the question, who will deliver?
Here is every match on the card with a Survivor Series Show Stealer scale of 1-10.
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. John Morrison for the United States Championship
1 of 7The proof is all right there.
This video of Dolph Ziggler on the receiving end of a Brogue Kick from Sheamus proves that Ziggler can steal a show on any given night.
Why you ask?
He can sell better than any wrestler on the active roster. I say the active roster because no one is better than The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels.
Although, I don’t agree with the way he is stealing Michael’s signature moves (The Super Kick and HBK'S Kick up), I do like that there is a younger star who possessed the same skill set.
With the unique style offense that John Morrison will bring to this match we are bound to see great things from these two on Sunday.
Odds on being a show stealer: 9/10
Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Eve Torres in a Lumberjill Match for the Divas Championship
2 of 7Unfortunately, a Divas match can never be trusted for a show stealer.
With the Divas Division going back to being in a flux as it did before Kharma arrived on the scene, it is very hard to believe this match will very come close to exciting the fans.
The one positive is that is in The Glamazon’s home state of New York which will could make for a unique atmosphere amongst the audience.
Odds of being a show stealer: 2/10
Mark Henry (c) vs. the Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship
3 of 7
The WWE Universe has expectations for this one and that clip just showed why.
At Vengeance, The Big Show and Mark Henry surprised us all but not only putting on a great match for two men of their size, but them imploding the ring is what everyone was talking about afterwards. No one was talking about John Cena losing the WWE Championship. No one was talking about the Awesome Truth beating the team of CM Punk and Triple H.
Everyone was talking about The Big Show and Mark Henry.
The only concern is what can do they to follow that?
They can have another good big man match but they can’t break the ring again. There is no way the WWE wants The Rock’s return to the ring not actually take place in a wrestling ring.
Odds on being a show stealer: 6/10
Team Orton vs. Team Barrett in a Traditional Survivor Series Match
4 of 7This one is a little trickery to predict.
There is some great talent on both Team Orton and Team Barrett.
But then there is guys like Mason Ryan, Huncio and Sin Cara.
It is hard to picture these three men in a show stealer type atmosphere. Especially with Ryan being on the baby face Team Orton. He should not be should be a baby face nor has he done anything to be on the Survivor Series card whatsoever.
With that said, this match may end up being a pleasant surprise depending on who are the last remaining men.
Will The Barrett Barrage continue or will The Age of Orton be revived?
Odds of being a show stealer: 7/10
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. CM Punk for the WWE Championship
5 of 7This match has the most potential to steal the show on Sunday night at MSG.
The build up for this match has been decent. Punk has gotten the best of Del Rio verbally for the last few weeks which is expected.
Physically, this feud was a game cat and mouse up until this past Monday Night Raw. Alberto Del Rio owned Punk the entire night and gained the momentum heading into Survivor Series.
Del Rio has a lot to prove because he has yet to perform at a high level in a big match atmosphere.
The last time we saw CM Punk vie for the WWE Championship in a singles match was at Money in the Bank where he shocked the world
In that sense, Punk has a lot to live up to on Sunday.
Odds on being a show stealer: 9/10
The Rock and John Cena vs. the Awesome Truth
6 of 7This is easily the most anticipated match for a PPV in quite some time.
Almost of that anticipation is because of The People’s Champion, The Rock.
Not to discount anything John Cena and the Awesome Truth have accomplished thus far. Especially R- Truth. He has made amazing strides this year.
These four putting on a wrestling classic here is highly unlikely and that became evident on Monday Night Raw.
The last segment proved that WWE is centering this entire tag match around their feud and their upcoming bout at WrestleMania 28.
Which leads the odds of this match stealing this show not as high as some might believe.
Odds on being a show stealer: 6/10
Conclusion!
7 of 7There you have it friends!
To quote The Rock, “It Doesn’t Matter!!!!” if any of these matches steal the show. We are in for a historic night!
What does matter is what you think.
Leave a comment and I will be sure to get back to you.
Thanks for reading Bleachers!
