WWE Survivor Series 2011: All Eyes Should Be on John Cena, Not The Rock
For the first time since 2004, The Rock is going to wrestle.
That reality alone probably would have been enough to sell this Sunday's Survivor Series. The Rock never fails to entertain, and the allure of seeing him throw his weight around for the first time in seven years is something that is too good to be true for wrestling fans.
It's also too good to be true for the otherwise unaffiliated. A good number of them will probably shell out a few bucks just to see what this Survivor Series thing is all about.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
But in keeping with the belief that all spectacles must be spectacles, WWE has arranged for The Rock to team up with heated rival John Cena. Together, they will be tasked with dispatching the dreaded "Awesome Truth" combo of The Miz and R-Truth.
All signs point towards The Rock and Cena turning on one another before the match is concluded, maybe before it even begins. That's the big storyline here. The Awesome Truth may as well be the Awesome Also-Rans.
Due to his long-awaited return to the ring and his heated feud with Cena, The Rock's every move is going to be under the microscope. People want to know what he is going to do.
But people should be more concerned about what Cena is going to do. Though he and The Rock are rivals, there's considerable pressure on him to finally turn heel, if for no other reason than to show The Rock that, well, he be a jerk too, man.
That would make for one hell of a crowd reaction, make no mistake about that. It would also cast The Rock's and Cena's upcoming match at WrestleMania XXVIII in a considerably different light.
The other option for Cena is to take the high road and hope that his flimsy alliance holds true. I've already gone for broke and predicted that this is actually going to be what happens, but the odds of it happening are definitely slim. If The Rock wants no part of it, he'll have no part of it. The question is whether or not Cena will beat him to the punch.
Essentially, there are two very simple options: Cena can continue to be Cena, or he can cease to be Cena and become something else.
We know The Rock is going to be The Rock, and The Rock being The Rock is what we're going to see. The only difference is that we'll be seeing it for the first time in many years.
But if you're actually going to tune in looking for something dramatic, you need to direct your eyes to Mr. Cena. If drama is going to happen, it will come from him.
