Larry Fitzgerald and Arizona Cardinals Finding Success Without Kevin Kolb
All Larry Fitzgerald wanted before he signed his big contract this offseason was a commitment from the Arizona Cardinals (3-6) that they would get him a quarterback. As it turns out, Arizona still hasn't lived up to their end of the bargain. Quarterback Kevin Kolb has been inconsistent this season, throwing for 1,708 yards, eight TDs, eight INTs in seven games. He's also completing just 56 percent of his passes. More importantly, Kolb's arrival hasn't improved Fitzgerald's numbers much over last year.
Fitzgerald's stats through seven games:
2010: 35 rec., 403 yards, 4 TDs
2011: 34 rec., 603 yards, 2 TDs
Fitzgerald has more yards this year compared to last year, which is encouraging, but he's not getting the touches he deserves. Fitzgerald is a player who should have double-digit touchdowns every season. Keep in mind, Fitzgerald scored 35 touchdowns from 2007-2009.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
To make matters worse for Kolb, while he's been on the sidelines nursing turf toe, Fitzgerald has found success with back-up quarterback John Skelton. In a win Sunday over the Philadelphia Eagles (3-6), Fitzgerald caught seven passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns. The Skelton-to-Fitzgerald connection has proven to be quite reliable, at least more than Kolb-to-Fitzgerald.
In seven games with Skelton at quarterback (five games in 2010, two games in 2011), Fitzgerald has 42 catches for 598 yards and four touchdowns. The Cardinals paid a lofty price to land Kolb so benching him probably isn't in the plans. However, if the Cardinals keep losing with Kolb (1-6) and winning with Skelton (4-3), expect the pressure on Kolb to rise like the Arizona heat.
