WWE Survivor Series 2011: 3 BIG Reasons Eve Should Turn Heel on Sunday
Survivor Series is only four days away, and one of the most discussed and debated topics here on Bleacher Report is why it is the absolute perfect opportunity for John Cena to make the heel turn we've all been craving for so long now.
Well, he's not the only one.
Ok, maybe an Eve heel turn isn't exactly something we've been anticipating with tongues wagging, but a turn this Sunday would definitely give the stale Divas division a much needed change of pace.
Here are three big reasons why Eve Torres should leave her goody-goody BFF behind and join the dark side.
She Is a Decent Wrestler
1 of 4Ever since Beth Phoenix joined forces with Natalya to create the Divas of Doom, they have been trying to create a clear cut divide between the models and the wrestlers.
Problem is, Eve could very easily fit into both categories.
Not that Beth and Natalya couldn't, themselves. They are without a doubt both beautiful women; but with their muscular builds, their beauty isn't typical of models. Eve is much closer to that mold, but Kelly Kelly and Alicia Fox are typical models.
Eve however, is an athlete. She, like Layla, was a professional dancer with the NBA before she went on to win the 2007 WWE Diva Search. More importantly, she is an avid student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in which she holds a blue belt. Her in-ring work improves week by week, and if she continues to learn and train and is given the right opportunity, she could certainly become a great woman wrestler.
Eve is above the ability level of Kelly Kelly and Alicia Fox, but below the level of the Divas of Doom. If she is going to progress, it would be best for her to do it by turning heel and leaving K2 and Foxy in the dust.
It Would Create Fresh Feuds for an Unbelievably Stale Division
2 of 4This point operates under the premise that, if Eve turns heel, she will not continue her feud with the Divas of Doom, but she won't join them either.
The best way for an Eve heel turn to happen at Survivor Series would be for her to give Kelly Kelly a beat down, after she somehow costs her the Divas Championship.
I don't know if any of you saw the Divas match on RAW this week—if you blinked you were liable to miss it—but it featured Kelly Kelly vs. Natalya.
The only logical explanation for the occurrence of this match—other than having either Eve or Beth in a match—is that it is foreshadowing a confrontation between the two, and my guess is that it's going to happen ringside during the Divas Title bout. Beth would then come to the aid of her pal, causing K2 to then do something to get Eve DQ'd.
Commence beat down.
From there, Eve would move on to feud with Kelly Kelly, leaving the floor open for other challengers to the Glamazon's reign.
Perhaps a returning Layla?
It Could Work Toward a Better Division Overall
3 of 4Let's be honest: A lot of us haven't really cared about the Divas for a long time now. There was a glimmer of hope when Kharma came through like a wrecking ball, until she was forced to take time off due to an unexpected high-risk pregnancy. With her gone, we've been suffering through the same old song and dance for the last five months.
But, we don't need to be.
There is talent in the Divas division, it's just not being used properly. A huge problem is that the only way to get any real time on RAW or SmackDown is to either be the Divas Champion, or be a contender for the title. The Divas shouldn't have to be in the title picture just to get decent exposure and be involved in anything but throwaway matches. After all, the men don't have to be.
For the Divas division to improve, there needs to be more than one feud going on at a time. Based on the previous slide, if Eve turns heel that will hopefully happen. From there, those separate feuds will branch out into other feuds, and more women will get the chance they really deserve.
More importantly, it could give us a reason to watch again.
The Future of the Divas Division Is Anyone's Guess
4 of 4Perhaps some of my ideas are rather grandiose. After all, it's no secret that Vince has a love/hate relationship with the women of the WWE and prefers to keep Divas segments to an absolute minimum.
But, the WWE Universe doesn't consist of a solely 18-35 male demographic who want to see half-naked women in meaningless cat fights every week. Believe it or not, there are a lot of male fans, and especially female fans—including myself—who want to see women wrestle.
We know there are women who can wrestle.
We know women's matches can be just as entertaining,if not more entertaining than the men's matches.
So please, Vince, give them a chance.
A heel turn for Eve at this Sunday's Survivor Series certainly wouldn't be a revolutionary moment in the history of women's wrestling, and who knows what it might lead to, if anything at all. But, it would bring a fresh turn of events to a stagnant division, and at this point, that's all us fans of women's wrestling can ask for.
