WWE Raw Results: Top 10 Moments from Last Night's 3-Hour Show

Justin WatryNov 15, 2011

WWE Raw was pretty good last night. I don't think it delivered a home run leading into Survivor Series, but it hit a ground-rule double into the stands. Good show, nothing amazing!

With that being said, it was still a three-hour show filled with many great moments. I will not be mentioning every segment, but I will focus on the most memorable in my mind. Let's get to it...

10. Kevin Nash Appears

1 of 10

I thought Triple H would come out here, but I was still pleased with the segment. Nash is a heel. Santino is a face. Very easy formula...

Santino gets beat down by Kevin Nash while he taunts an injured Triple H. It is that simple. No "insider" promos or "IWC" talk! Just a very straight-forward, basic promo...well done.

9. Sheamus Wins

2 of 10

Sheamus and Jack Swagger had a nice little match. These two both have a great future with the company, but the winner was never in doubt. Sheamus picks up another win, and he is one step closer to becoming a huge star in this industry.

Again, there is not wild booking, no crazy swerves, no pointless segments. Wrestling is best done when it is simple planning. Sheamus won against a heel in a good match, then he celebrated. Perfect!

8. Brodus Clay

3 of 10

There are very few things that "bug" me in this business. I can deal with bad storylines. I can deal with bad matches. I can deal with anything else you can name.

However, I do not approve of "bait and switch" segments. Yet again, Brodus Clay was nowhere to be found on Raw. He is now making his return next week! Oh joy, I really hope this happens. I am a big fan of Clay, but WWE needs to deliver what they promote...

7. Michael Cole Challenge

4 of 10

This was a fine segment. These two are often in the highest-rated segments of the night, so I am not sure why they started the show. These two deserve a higher profile spot.

The competitions were entertaining, and it went about exactly as we expected. Jim Ross looked good, but Cole wouldn't allow him to win. That is what happened, and I really have no idea what happens next.

6. Dolph Ziggler Takes Christian's Spot

5 of 10

I do not like this move. My opinion can change at Survivor Series, but I do not approve of this right now. Dolph Ziggler losing to Zack Ryder in a "smarky" crowd at Madison Square Garden would seem like a great moment too good to pass up.

I am not even a member of the "Zack Pack." I just know how New York crowds react. Now, Ziggler is thrown into a match with nine other people, where it will be hard to stand out on your own. The bright spot is he made the Survivor Series card.

5. Cody Rhodes Changes

6 of 10

I like him removing the mask. That was long overdue. It was a fun gimmick for 2011, but he needed to drop it before moving to the main event scene.

The music was bad. No other way around it! I did not enjoy his new theme music. Thankfully, Cody Rhodes is still a great talent in the ring, and he looks great with the Intercontinental title around his waist.

4. Wade vs. Orton

7 of 10

Why did this happen? I really had no desire to see these two again so soon. They had a great match on Smackdown, but here are a few reasons why I disliked this segment:

1. We just saw it on Smackdown. Save the rematch for a later date. There was no demand to see it right away on the next live show.

2. The faces stood tall before the PPV. I usually do not mind who stands tall before a PPV, but Team Barrett needs a ton of work to look credible.

3. Most of the teams looked like "filler." It was all about Wade Barrett, Randy Orton and maybe Mason Ryan. The rest of the teams did nothing or got beat up very easily.

I really hope they have a major story for Smackdown, because this "feud" is off to a strange start.

3. The Rock on Raw

8 of 10

His rock bottom to Mick Foley earlier in the show was fine, but everything was built around the final segment of the night. How would he, John Cena, R-Truth and The Miz interact before the big tag match at Survivor Series?

Well, I thought the segment was good. It was not amazing or electric, but it did its job. It created some tension between John Cena and The Rock while giving Awesome Truth some face time.

Again, it was not a "home run" segment, but it was a good way to close the show. Now, we will see how the buzz carries over to PPV buys this Sunday night. I know I am buying it (not streaming it for free, illegally).

2. Mark Henry and Del Rio Stand Tall

9 of 10

I really liked the Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk segments last night. They sold the title match on Sunday, and it was very simple to understand.

Mark Henry and The Big Show are two monsters, and they were exactly that last night. Henry is still the best thing on WWE TV, and Show is doing a great job as well. Again, keeping it simple is the best formula.

With that being said, their tag team match was just as good as expected. Del Rio pinned Punk, and he made everybody remember who the WWE Champion was. It was great segment, but only one thing was better last night on Raw...

1. Mick Foley Returns!

10 of 10

What a moment! When he stepped out of the car, I did not jump up and down. I did not scream with excitement. All I did was smile.

I wasn't smiling for myself enjoying the moment, but I was smiling for Mick. What a thrill that had to be. After three years of being away from the spotlight, this had to be very heartwarming for Foley.

He is back with WWE, and everything is right with the world. I hate doing "what ifs" and "fantasy booking," but Foley never should have left WWE in 2008 in the first place.

His problems with commentating could have easily been fixed. Taking him off the road for a few months would have been fine. Being an "ambassador" for the company would have been ideal, but going to TNA was never going to solve anything.

His run down in DixieLand was terrible. Being the TNA champion only further buried that company, and his entire time there just felt "irrelevant." Again, I do not want to dig up the past, but it is nice to see him back where he belongs.

I do not even care to discuss with segment with Cena. It was long, dreadful and did not accomplish much. I did not enjoy the "This is Your Life" segment 12 years ago, and I did not care for it much last night. All that matters is "Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy" is back...right here in WWE!
