WWE Survivor Series 2011: Why Awesome Truth Will Crush Rock and Cena
Even as a fan of Awesome Truth, I'll admit: on paper, their chances at Survior Series do not look great. Going up against John Cena, WWE's fiercely protected poster child, and The Rock who, prior to leaving WWE for Hollywood, was one of the biggest stars of all time, Awesome Truth look doomed to fail.
Certainly, going by their poor treatment on WWE television lately, which has seen Cena lay them out on several occasions despite being outnumbered two-to-one, this doesn't seem too far fetched. Indeed, Miz and R-Truth have been made to look so weak that many have joked that Rock probably doesn't need to tag with Cena at Survivor Series, since John can clearly handle these two all by himself.

I don't think their chances as nearly as bleak as people are making them out to be.
I think fans might be underestimating the duo's chances at Madison Square Garden on November 20th. It is certainly not impossible that Awesome Truth could emerge triumphant—and it may even be likely.
First of all, if the erratic WWE booking team has taught us anything in recent times, it is that they like swerves and unpredictability.
Certainly the current conspiracy storyline has been filled with twists, turns and too many Kevin Nash run-ins to count. He may be long gone from WWE, but Vince Russo's creative influence still casts a long shadow over the promotion. Many current WWE scribes seem to fully subscribe to the theory that the more surprises the better.
Since fans are being trained to think Miz and R-Truth are not credible and have no chance against Cena and Rock, it would would make them gaining the victory even more shocking and controversial, an ending like that may appeal to WWE brass.
Secondly, part of the Survivor Series build up revolves around whether John Cena and The Rock can get along as a tag team, in light of the fact that they will be going one-on-one at next year's Wrestlemania in Miami. Due to the return of "The Great One," Wrestlemania is already doing record numbers in ticket sales and looks set to be one of, if not the, biggest Wrestlemania in history.
If the WWE is eager to begin an earlier build up for Wrestlemania, it's very likely that they could bill the tag team of Cena and Rock to lose to Awesome Truth at Survivor Series. Maybe there could be a miscommunication that could cost them the match, or perhaps Rock could deliberately turn on Cena during the match, assaulting him then walking out, leaving Cena vulnerable to a pin fall from Miz and/or R-Truth. Perhaps Cena could do the same to the Rock.
A development like this may end the show on a sour note, but it would give their Wrestlemania program some much needed hatred and anger and help drive the angle going forward. Certainly for two guys facing each other in one of the biggest events of all time, Rock and Cena don't seem that mad at each other.
The two being civil to each other and shaking hands after they agreed to the match back in March likely didn't help matters. If WWE wants to plant the seeds for a Cena/Rock feud for next year's event, Survivor Series is the best time to do it.
It is also possible that the booking team could recognize that Miz and R-Truth simply need to go over to gain some credibility with fans. A victory for them would mean so much more than it would to their opponents. John Cena has been protected for years now and losing at Survivor Series will do him no harm whatsoever.
Likewise, no one will think any less of The Rock if he comes up short at the event. There's also the troubling question of whether WWE should be sacrificing up and coming stars like R-Truth and The Miz to a guy who spends most of his time in Hollywood these days anyway.
Despite what many fans think, a victory for Awesome Truth at Madison Square Garden is not out of the question. Indeed, there are quite a few reasons it makes perfect sense. Let's just see if WWE's booking team can figure it out too.
