Mike McQueary: What If Penn State Assistant Had Stopped Jerry Sandusky in 2002?
Let's play the what if game by asking what would have changed if Mike McQueary had stopped Jerry Sandusky in 2002?
This is all hypothetical since Sandusky at the moment is innocent until proven guilty. However, many are wondering how much trouble and toll Penn State University would have taken if McQueary would have stopped Sandusky when he had the chance?
Sure, it is hindsight, but it is logical to think of such a thing since this tumultuous story has been horrific to follow as each step has unfolded.
I think Penn State football would have still taken quite the hit, but at least there would be fewer victims and Sandusky would have been gone.
This is all about the alleged victims and the children who were harmed. Why couldn't something have been done when McQueary had the chance?
We don't see coaches get fired over allegations all that easily these days, but when they are this severe, it is clear that Penn State made the right decisions.
Had Penn State done a better job of actively following this incident when they had the chance, there still would have been a black mark on the university, but it would have been significantly easier to deal with.
By no means am I stating that things would be anywhere near normal, but if McQueary would have stopped Sandusky when he had the chance, everything would have been different.
Maybe Joe Paterno would never have been fired.
Penn State University's reaction, as far as the students storming and wreaking havoc around campus, would have never happened. It was all over Joe and was unfortunate since the real victims, the children, took a back seat once again.
Penn State had a very tough weekend that will never be forgotten. Millions of Americans have expressed their own concerns and opinions.
Some people have been beyond outraged and forever hurt by these allegations.
With McQueary doing nothing, the black mark that Penn State University will receive may be permanent.
The football program may lose the majority of their top recruits and the rest of the program may never get back to where it once was.
Sadly, this is much more than just the game of football.
Lives have been ruined, and our hearts go out to all of the alleged victims.
