Nebraska vs Penn State: Live Twitter Reactions to Paterno, Sandusky and More
Amidst the biggest college football scandal ever, following the firing of one of the most legendary coaches in the history of all of sports, the Penn State Nittany Lions have to go out and try to take down Nebraska in a game that is littered with Big Ten implications.
There are certain games that really put sports in perspective. Here we have two of the best teams the conference has to offer and nobody is talking about football.
It's an odd feel at Beaver Stadium and Twitter is blowing up with people who are weighing in on the biggest college football scandal in history.

Penn State is still getting flack for their moment of silence, as it was silence that landed them in this predicament. The Daily's John Walters is quick to point out the irony.

It took a while for Penn State to get going, but as Ben Jones of StateCollege.com indicates, Penn State put together an impressive 82-yard drive.
They've finally got it going and though they are down 17-7, this game isn't over.

Regardless of your political views, it's hard to imagine anyone (aside from the fine folks at WBC) can disagree with President Obama's message at last night's Carrier Classic.
The Associated Press Tweeted out this video of the president saying he believes it's time for Americans to do some soul searching. A reevaluating of their priorities would have made this scandal avoidable for Penn State.

The Westboro Baptist Church has made their presence felt, touting jaw-dropping signs and adding to the whirlwind of controversy surrounding this game.

Mark Viera of the New York Times says describes the scene as a "mostly normal football Saturday at Penn State."
In seeing this video of tailgaters prior to kickoff, it's clear that their attempt at normalcy is understandably falling short.

The new president of Penn Sate is wrong. According to the Associated Press, he says this is one of the saddest weeks in the school's history. This isn't one of the saddest weeks in school history, it's the saddest week in the schools history bar none.

It's tough to find a joke at Penn State's expense that is tasteful or original. Not sure this one from Bill Walton exactly fits that description either, but it's funny nevertheless.

John Walters, writer for The Daily, thinks the Nittany Lions should get a little more aggressive with their play calling, pointing to the cleaning of house many ultimately believe faces the Penn State staff.

There are many who hate the university for the way they handled the Jerry Sandusky situation. The New York Times' Mark Viera says according to four members of the Westboro Baptist Church, God is amongst them.

The seniors at Penn State don't have another home game after this. This is it. There is a ton of attention being placed on a number of parties involved with and affected by the scandal, but it's hard to imagine what the seniors in this game are going through, as Bonnie Bernstein of BonnieBernstein.com points out.

USA Today's Michael McCarthy says coach Tom Bradley told ESPN's Tom Rinaldi that he wouldn't be surprised if Joe Paterno showed up to the stadium today. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue?
The scene outside of JoePa's house will be mayhem if Penn State wins. If he enters Beaver Stadium, the place is going to erupt.

Many hold Joe Paterno ultimately responsible for the scandal, but there are still some who will never forget what he has done for the university. He's helped create a family at Penn State and a little boy rocking a "This one's for you Joe" sign speaks for itself, as ESPN's Sarah Spain indicates.

We're finally into the swing of football. The game remains scoreless, but any empty seats in the house are being filled, according to Yahoo!'s Pat Forde, and it's finally starting to feel like a football game is in place.

While the Penn State mini-riot got a lot of negative attention and many at Penn State have been criticized for the role they played in the scandal, Yahoo!'s Pat Forde points out that many Penn State fans are sporting blue in honor of the victims, rather than the white that would have otherwise been worn in this game.

Sports Business Journal's John Ourand commends both teams for meeting for a pre-game prayer. While they are squaring off in a highly important game, both teams recognize the special circumstances of the game. Classy is the perfect word to describe it.

Nobody is going to fault StateCollege.com's Ben Jones for getting caught up in the moment. Given the magnitude of what he and every Penn State student, fan and alum are experiencing, it's impossible not to be affected by what's happening at this moment.
CBS' Gregg Doyel points out what might happen if the team wins and does ultimately bring the game ball to JoePa. The chaos that ensued outside of his home will likely be dwarfed by what would occur under those circumstances.
Andy Staples of SI.com tweets about the moment of silence at Beaver Stadium. A few have pointed out the irony in this showing of respect and reflection, as it is silence that ultimately landed Penn State in the debacle they are in.
ESPN Radio 1450 points out that this is an obviously historic event and also reminds people that it is indeed senior day. It's safe to say that none of the seniors saw their day of recognition playing out like this.
With the mess surrounding the program, senior day is being overshadowed. This is just one more way in which the current players are paying a price for the actions of their program's past infractions.
There has already been a bomb scare at the stadium, according to TMZ. The threats only add to the tension in the air and have to be making it more difficult for players to focus on the task at hand, rather than getting caught up in the hoopla surrounding this matchup.
The last time Joe Paterno was not on staff during a Penn State game was October 1949, according to ESPN's Big Ten Twitter account. Where were you in 1949? Alive?
Many of us who aren't affiliated with Penn State in any way don't know how to handle Saturday without JoePa coaching.
Jerry Sandusky's window had a cinder block thrown through it. Given the magnitude of the scandal, The Big Lead asks the question everyone is thinking.
