WWE Survivor Series 2010: Top 5 Moments from the WWE Event
WWE Survivor Series 2010 was a great event. I really enjoyed it. While it may not be an all-time classic show, it was certainly a wonderful WWE PPV.
With that being said, I have compiled the top five moments from the show (good or bad). It was a show full of memorable moments, including an incredible main event. Let's get to it...
5. Matt Striker Ruins the Show
1 of 5Listen to his commentary in the video posted for all the evidence you need. I remember having heard enough of Striker by this point in 2010, and this show sealed my opinion on him.
His constant "knowledge" of the business was just too much. His "fun facts" that nobody cared about got annoying really quick. Add in his absolute botch of epic proportions at the conclusion of the main event, and you had a man on borrowed time at the commentary booth.
I won't even get into his embarrassing call at the Royal Rumble two months later! Thankfully, he was gone shortly thereafter.
4. Beth Phoenix Is Back!
2 of 5LayCool was a great act. However, this was not their night. Not only did "they" lose their Diva's title, both got a rude awakening after their match with Natayla.
Beth Phoenix made her long-awaited return for revenge on LayCool, and it was sweet! Beth and Nattie have been together since, and they are still dominating the division. Beware: Kharma is coming...
3. Edge vs. Kane
3 of 5What a mess this was! Kane was the World Heavyweight Champion, while Edge was the challenger here. They had a nice back-and-forth match, but the ending was just terrible.
Nothing was worse than hearing Tony Chimel call the match a "tie." That was the wrong choice of words there, in my opinion. It just left a bad note on an otherwise good match (and feud).
2. Team Rey vs. Team Del Rio
4 of 5MVP was in this match? Tyler Reks was also? Wow. What a year it has been...
Anyways, this was the best match of the night. The crowd was hot for the entire thing, and everybody involved added their own "personality" to the battle.
Of course, much of the focus was on Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio. While The Big Show did shine as well, this was a total team effort from every participant here. Great job, guys!
1. Free or Fired
5 of 5Epic.
If I could describe the entire John Cena vs. Nexus angle, I would choose the word "epic." It just felt major from the very beginning. All the men involved made the entire storyline feel as if it would be remembered for years to come. This night was no different.
The official main event was Randy Orton defending his WWE Championship against Wade Barrett. The guest referee was John Cena. Since he was under the watch of Nexus, he had to make a choice: Help Wade win the WWE title and be freed from his power or count the pinfall for Orton to retain but be fired from WWE in the process? Wow, the drama was at an all-time high leading up to this match.
Honestly, the match was pretty forgettable. Everybody was just waiting for the "end." While many predicted (and were wrong for the 800th time) a Cena heel turn, the ending was never in doubt.
Cena had to count down the shoulders of Barrett and allow Orton to retain. He did just that, and the chain of reactions would be seen in the weeks to come. However, on this night, Cena was fired...
