Week 10 Waiver Wire: Miles Austin and 6 Injured Stars You Need to Replace

Zachary KalusinNov 8, 2011

Miles Austin's injury will have fantasy owners hitting the waiver wire, in search of an adequate replacement.  Around the league there are a few stars that will not shine during Week 10, as they'll sit in plain clothes on the sideline.

So what player from each injured star's team can jump in and fill the large shoes for fantasy owners everywhere?

Miles Austin

1 of 7

Miles Austin is doubtful with a right hamstring injury.  He will definitely not play as Austin told the Dallas Morning News that his hamstring “really hurts.”

As Austin is sidelined for two to four weeks, the clear benefactor in this is Laurent Robinson, who has 10 catches, 135 yards and two scores in the last two weeks.

Darren McFadden

McFadden has an injured foot and will likely miss his third straight game this Thursday.  The replacement, Michael Bush, is a phenomenal back up.  In the last two weeks he’s pushed out 99 and 96 yards (which at the same time has to make fantasy owners sick).

If Bush is somehow still around in your league, GRAB HIM.

Peyton Hillis

The “Madden Curse” continues as no one is quite sure when Peyton Hillis will return to the gridiron.  In the past two weeks Chris Ogbonnaya has filled in, and has done a less than stellar job.

However, the Brownies will be facing the Rams next week, who have allowed the second most rush yards this season.

Jahvid Best

Jahvid Best is listed as questionable, even after a Detroit bye week. If his concussion does in fact end up sidelining him, look to pick up Maurice Morris.  Morris was asked to do very little in Detroit’s thrashing of Denver in Week 8.

This week the Lions will need them as they battle division rival Chicago.

Ahmad Bradshaw

Although Coach Coughlin said that Bradshaw is showing “encouraging signs”, there is a real chance that the Giants tailback will miss a second week because of his injured foot.  No surprise that Brandon Jacobs will shoulder the load if he is called upon.

Jacobs had a great performance last week against New England and will be needed against a tough San Fran opponent.  For what ever reason, Jacobs is still available in about 10 percent of leagues.

Ryan Mathews

6 of 7

One could argue that Tolbert deserves to be the lead man in the San Diego backfield.  However it is Ryan Mathews who gets the majority of the carries for the Chargers.

If Mathews’ groin sidelines him for another week, expect another solid performance from Mike Tolbert, who put up 142 total yards and a score last week.

Kevin Kolb

7 of 7

Kolb will likely miss his big reunion game verse the Philadelphia Eagles.  Fordham graduate John Skelton played rather pedestrian but mistake-free football last week against the Rams.

The Eagles will likely lead early and make Skelton throw the ball A LOT.  A deep league starting multiple QBs might find reason to give Skelton a shot.
