Week 10 Waiver Wire: Roy Helu, Brandon Jacobs and More Smart RB Pickups

Nicholas GossNov 8, 2011

Roy Helu, Brandon Jacobs and Kendall Hunter are a few of many talented running backs you should consider adding off of your fantasy football league's waiver wire for Week 10 of the NFL season.

Injuries play a major role in the effectiveness of running backs, and each of the mentioned backs, plus many others, are getting an increased workload because the starting running backs on their respective teams are battling injuries.

Let's look at four running backs you should add to your fantasy team this week.

1. Ben Tate

Even with Arian Foster having another good season, his backup, Ben Tate, is having a very good season too.

The Houston Texans running back had 115 rushing yards last week against the Cleveland Browns—his second 100-yard rushing performance of the season.

Tate will get around 10 carries every week, and while that might not seem like a lot, his 5.7 yards per carry average assures fantasy owners he will make the most of his chances.

Start Tate this week and add him to your team even if you already own Foster.

2. Roy Helu

Tim Hightower's season-ending injury has opened the door for Roy Helu to be a bigger part of the Washington Redskins rushing offense.

Helu had 41 yards rushing last week against a very talented San Francisco 49ers defense, and even more impressively, he caught 14 passes for 105 yards.

Helu will remain an important part of the Redskins offense, and his value as a pass-catching running back makes him quite valuable in PPR fantasy leagues.

3. Kendall Hunter

With San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore hurting his ankle in Week 9, Hunter could star for the 49ers against the New York Giants in Week 10 or play a bigger role if Gore suits up.

Hunter is a talented runner who has received at least eight carries in three of the last four games. His 4.5 yards per carry average is quite impressive, and Hunter would be a good bye week replacement this week.

4. Brandon Jacobs

With Ahmad Bradshaw missing last week's game for the New York Giants against the New England Patriots, Brandon Jacobs got the start and performed well.

Jacobs rushed for 72 yards on 11 carries, including a touchdown. He also had four catches for 28 yards.

Jacobs is a very good goal line option and is also valuable in the Giants' passing game. With Bradshaw still recovering from a foot injury, Jacobs will remain a part of the offense this week against the San Francisco 49ers.
