Tampa Bay Buccaneers Haven't Found Any Answers, Have They?

Tom EdringtonNov 7, 2011

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were refreshed, they had healed and Raheem Morris knew how to fix all the problems.

Then the Bucs got off the bus at the "luxury car dome" in New Orleans.

Good thing they were well-rested. Would have hated to see how bad it would have been if this team hadn't had two weeks off between games.

If you look at the 27-16 score in Sunday's loss at New Orleans, it doesn't look that bad. But it did when you watched the game. The Bucs were never in this one, really. It was 14-0 quickly, then 17-3 at the half and 24-6 going into the last 15 minutes.

Slow start? This was a slow three quarters. Forty-five minutes is hardly a slow start, it's mired in quicksand.

The same symptoms of the disease in this football team reared their ugly heads. The Saints ran and ran and ran; they averaged 4.9 yards every time one of their backs, be it Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles or Chris Ivory, had the ball. Together those 27 totes went 175 yards.

Raheem Morris needs a new defensive coordinator. Wait! Raheem Morris IS the defensive coordinator.

He can take solace in that, as bad as he is, Greg Olsen is worse.  There were offensive calls that left you saying, "What the hell was that?"

How about putting Josh Johnson in there? Why didn't they just tell the Saints what they were going to do?

And Josh Freeman in this game continued to be the Josh Freeman of 2011—a distant memory of the 2010 Josh Freeman. He missed throws at crucial times. Blame it on the thumb. Heck, they'll blame it on something.

Sure, Morris will tell us his team is still in it. Hey, Raheem, quit pissing on our legs and telling us its raining outside!

This team gets undisciplined penalties—and there were plenty on Sunday. Someone needs to hit Morris with a bucket of hogwash and tell him, "That's for all those penalties."

Thanks, Ronde. We need a voice of reason. Though "average" may be a reach. They're 4-4 and have to thank the horrible teams of Minnesota and Indianapolis for two of those wins.

The team that started 3-1 is now on a 1-3 head over heels tumble.

As if you need more bad news, now Gerald McCoy is out for the season with another torn bicep. He tore the left one last year, so it was the right one Sunday. Geez, he nearly made eight games this year. Big return on that pick.

Things only get worse from here.

The suddenly surging Texans come into town next Sunday. They're 6-3, same as these Saints.

Then it's off to Green Bay.

But first things first.

We've had enough of this ugly déjà vu.

This is a broken record; Morris and his coaching staff need to take a serious look at themselves.

That's where the problem starts and where it needs to end.
