4 Ways Tim Tebow Outdueled Carson Palmer in Week 9 Victory
Sunday's showdown between the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos may not have featured the best quarterbacks in the AFC West but it certainly featured the two most talked-about ones, as both Oakland signal-caller Carson Palmer and Tim Tebow of the Broncos have been the subjects of much debate and conversation over the past few weeks.
Tebow and the Broncos came away from today's game with a 14 point win, and as much it may pain some Tebow had the better day under center, due in no small part to the reasons we'll be listing here.
1. His Team Scored More Points
1 of 4It may seem sort of silly to say it, but the last time I checked the point of a football game was to score more points than the other team, and the Broncos put 38 on the board, making it a lot easier to look at Tebow's performance in a favorable light.
2. He Didn't Make as Many Mistakes
2 of 4Tebow's completion percentage (10-of-21 vs. 19-of-35) and yardage total (124 vs. 332) weren't as high as Carson Palmer's Sunday, but the second-year pro also didn't turn the ball over, while Palmer threw three costly interceptions.
3. He Made Plays with His Legs
3 of 4No one confused Carson Palmer with a mobile quarterback before he tore his ACL several years ago and he's now positively statuesque, while Tebow repeatedly kept drives alive with his scrambling ability Sunday, gaining 118 yards on 12 carries.
4. He Tebowed
4 of 4You cannot stop the Tebow.
You can only hope to contain it.
And Carson Palmer does not Tebow.
