Kansas City Chiefs Lose to a Winless Miami Dolphins Yet Still in First Place
The Kansas City Chiefs lost at home today to the previously winless Miami Dolphins who came into the game 0-7. The Chiefs, who were in a three way tie for first place with the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers fell to 4-4 for the season.
It was not just that the Chiefs lost to what was one of the worst teams in the league, owing to their winless record, but the fact that they got demolished 31-3 at home was the most disappointing to their long suffering fans.
The Dolphins scored touchdowns in the first and second quarters. Then they added two more touchdowns in the third quarter and a field goal in the fourth to end the day with an impressive offensive display for quarterback Matt Moore who went 17-23 for 244 yards and threw for three touchdowns.

Other than a field goal early to take the lead, Kansas City never got back on the board as signs of the anemic offense of the first few games re-emerged for Coach Todd Haley’s team. Matt Cassel was sacked five times and finished with 253 yards going 20 for 39 and rushing for 38 yards with no touchdowns.
Despite the embarrassing loss at home to a struggling team, the Kansas City Chiefs somehow managed to stay in the hunt for the AFC West Division crown as the other two teams tied for first place in the division, the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders, also lost their games Sunday.
All three teams are still tied for first place with the Chiefs holding a tie breaker advantage having beaten the Raiders and the Chargers already this season. Denver Broncos and their controversial quarterback, Tim Tebow, are just one game behind the division leaders and face off with the Kansas City Chiefs next week as they visit Arrowhead stadium.
