UFC 138: Chris Leben and Mark Munoz Will Silence Fans' Doubts
There has been a lot of doubt circulating that UFC 138 will be a letdown on Saturday in Birmingham, England.
Especially because it precedes UFC 139, when UFC giants Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos will battle for the heavyweight title.
But UFC fans, in America and England, need not worry. Leben vs. Munoz will be enough to make UFC 138 all fight fans could ask for.
Chris Leben, of course, made his name in the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, a show which has blossomed, along with the UFC, since.
Nicknamed "The Crippler," Leben has a 22-7 career MMA record. He's won four of his last five fights, including against Wanderlei Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama.
His punching power and chin, along with a personality fit for the WWE, has made him a truly entertaining and reputable fighter.
Mark Munoz, on the other hand, nicknamed "The Filipino Wrecking Machine," has an 11-2 career MMA record and will look to get Leben on the mat quickly, using his advantage in takedown ability and wrestling as often as he can.
Said Munoz, via FoxSports.com:
"“I’m a Filipino guy that packs power in both hands and looks to finish every split-second of every fight. You’re going to see a lot of excitement in my fights and you’re going to see (me fight like) Donkey Kong when I’m on top of somebody.”
"
Munoz has a three-fight winning streak, including against Demian Maia, and both fighters believe the winner of this fight should determine who fights UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
In his last fight, Leben knocked out Wanderlei Silva in just 27 seconds. Although Silva has gone off the deep end late in his career, make no mistake that Leben's victory was still impressive.
There's been a lot of banter surrounding Saturday's fights, but by the end of the night, fans won't have much to complain about.
