Is John Laurinaitis Really the Man to Blame on WWE Monday Night Raw?
He’s guilty.
John Laurinaitis, the WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and the interim Raw General Manager is definitely guilty of something.
By the way, how sick are you of hearing him say that.

It’s not just bad acting. At this point, it’s so blatantly obvious, that WWE has done everything except give him a curled moustache along with a black hat and matching cape.
Every week, John is texting someone. Before a hostile attack takes place. After a hostile attack takes place. Basically, Laurinaitis is recreating that suspense movie moment of a phone call being made after the detective leaves the room.
He’s the villain of this story. Despite how uncomfortable he seems, or how painful it is to watch him fumble through his lines while trying to remember to keep the microphone close to his mouth, the fact is that John Laurinaitis is the man responsible for all the mayhem that’s been happening for several months on Raw.
He’s been the man directing Kevin Nash behind the scenes. He is also the one responsible for The Miz and R-Truth’s constant assaults on the roster. It only makes sense, after all, considering that Triple H fired all three men and John rehired them all back. Laurinaitis is guilty as sin.
Honestly, who else could it be?
Vince McMahon, while still the Chairman of the Board, has not been a factor in the Raw storyline for quite some time now. Yes, he is a great heel, arguably the best that WWE has ever seen, but he reportedly wants to stay off TV for the foreseeable future.
Stephanie McMahon’s last few appearances on the program have seen her as the complete professional, the unbiased executive who only has the best interests of her father’s company at heart. While she has also been a great heel in her own right, it’s highly unlikely that she would have anything to do with her own husband being viciously attacked by Kevin Nash.
Triple H has been baby face for a while now, and is overdue for a heel turn at some point. It’s not out of the question that he could be the evil genius at work behind the scenes. But, there’s the fact that he has been the target of a lot of the violence that’s been happening. So, it’s not out of the question, but it’s highly unlikely at this point.
And so we come back to 'mister personality', the charismatic force of nature known as John Laurinaitis. He is the real antagonist of the storyline, the one who has been pulling the strings all along.
But, what if he’s not guilty?
What if John is just a patsy, a foot soldier, who has just been following orders this whole time? After all, someone is on the other end of those texts he’s sending. Who is that person, and why is he or she instructing John to direct the mayhem on Raw?
The fact is, if John were a true villain, wouldn’t he be trying to hide his constant texting from the camera? Are his actions just a little too obvious?
By making fans hate Laurinaitis with a passion, is WWE hiding the real heel who is handing out marching orders every week on Raw?
I’m not suggesting that John is completely without blame. His character is obviously a bit too smug, and much too arrogant for his own good. He is a heel, and though he may not be the primary heel, he is still bad news for any baby face who crosses his path.
But at the end of the day, he may just be an executive who is merely following orders. He is the scapegoat who is being blamed by CM Punk and Triple H, for the shadowy conspiracy in WWE that he had no part in organizing.
Who is he answering to? That is the real question in this storyline, and at some point it will likely be revealed. Until then, John Laurinaitis will continue to be the focus of the fans’ hatred, all the while doing what he’s always done on the program.
Provide a distraction.
