Shaq's Tell-All Scroll of Hate Takes Aim at LeBron James
Nothing that Shaquille O'Neal wrote about LeBron James in his autobiography Shaq Uncut: My Story is particularly groundbreaking. There are a few interesting revelations, but nothing is terribly shocking.
Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinal details a few of those, which came from O'Neal's one year in Cleveland as LeBron's teammate.
"I remember one day in a film session LeBron didn’t get back on defense after a missed shot. Mike Brown didn’t say anything about it. He went to the next clip and it was Mo Williams not getting back and Mike was saying, ‘Yo, Mo, we can’t have that. You’ve got to hustle a little more.’ So Delonte West is sitting there and he’s seen enough and he stands up and says, ‘Hold up, now. You can’t be pussyfooting around like that. Everyone has to be accountable for what they do, not just some us.’ Mike Brown said, ‘I know, Delonte. I know.’ Mike knew Delonte was right.

And of course, it wouldn't come from Shaq if there wasn't a slight dig at Kobe Bryant.
"I’m not sure if Kobe [Bryant] is going to listen to Mike Brown [now Lakers coach]. LeBron never really did.
"
So, a star player got special treatment? Is that really rare? Did Shaq never benefit from that throughout his career? I have my doubts.
Shaq also goes on to detail LeBron's performance in Game 5 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals vs. Boston, as well as giving his opinion on why the Heat lost the 2010 NBA Finals to the Mavericks.
For one, O'Neal is right. LeBron has certainly played a timid style in recent years, and we know that he's capable of taking games over.
Here's the question though. Is O'Neal telling it like it is, or is he piling it on?
We all remember this moment:
But since that moment, nobody has wasted a second to pile on LeBron. Now, we're getting it from Shaq. As great as O'Neal was, he was only a teammate of LeBron's for one year, which came at the end of his career.
Shaq also hasn't been hesitant about taking digs at other great players, like Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant.
Really, what's being accomplished at this point?
"The Decision," was over a year ago. The performance against Boston was even longer than that. Really, it's not even fair at this point. LeBron doesn't even have a chance to get out there and play to show his value.
It's okay to not like LeBron. Certainly if you're affiliated with the Cavaliers, I understand that he's not your favorite person.
But O'Neal's book is just one more form of criticism that LeBron has taken for the better part of the last two years. There's nothing new at this point. At best, you have a slightly new spin on old criticism.
This isn't calling Shaq out specifically by any means. He's just one in a long line of people that needs to let go.
