Tim Tebow: Why the Denver Broncos QB Will Never Regain His Magic

Michael MillOct 31, 2011

Tim Tebow is now 1-1 as a starter for the Denver Broncos this season, but despite the .500 record things couldn't have looked much worse for the quarterback after two weeks of action.

Tebow led Denver to a miraculous come-from-behind victory last week against the Miami Dolphins.

Down 15-0 late in the game, Tebow brought the team back in the final minutes to send the game to overtime where they would later win.

This weekend didn't have similar results. Tebow and the Broncos were crushed at home against the visiting Detroit Lions by a final score of 45-10.

Over 120 minutes of football, Tebow has shown promise for about five minutes.

Over the two games, Tebow has completed just 47 percent of his passes for 333 yards. He has completed three touchdowns to just one interception. He has also rushed for 122 yards.

On the negative side of things, that interception was returned 100 yards for a touchdown. Tebow has also fumbled the ball four times. The most concerning stat may be that he has been sacked 13 times in two weeks.

It's just not looking good for Tebow.

In fact, he has looked so poor that there is a strong belief that he could already be in jeopardy of losing the starting position.

Head coach John Fox failed to say who would start next week after the loss. That's not a good sign for the Florida quarterback.

That said, I don't expect Fox to bench Tebow. The Denver organization has nothing to lose riding out this season with Tebow.

That ride is going to be a rough one.

If Tebow keeps playing at the level he has the last two weeks, this team may be in the running to draft Andrew Luck.

The Broncos face the Oakland Raiders next week. This Raiders are a pretty good football team. That said, they probably have the worst defense that Tebow will see the rest of the season.

If he couldn't get the job done against the Dolphins (apart from those five minutes), I doubt that Tebow is really going to get it done against anybody.

The guy may be a winner, but you need more than that to succeed in the NFL. He doesn't have the arm or technique needed to be a successful quarterback in the league. It's quickly becoming obvious.

As quickly as the Tebow era begin, it looks like it could already be over.
