Week 8 Fantasy Football Projections: Predicting the Top Scorer at Every Position
Having one of the top scorers in fantasy football for the week can single-handedly carry your team to a fantasy football victory.
With fantasy studs like Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, Roddy White, Michael Turner, and Matt Forte on bye this week, so you might have to dig a little deeper to find your fantasy stud.
On the flip side, plenty of stars will be returning from bye weeks this week.
Will your team falter against one of these stars or will you rule your fantasy league as you land one of the highers scorers of the week?
Michael Vick (QB, Philadelphia Eagles)
1 of 6This isn't as crazy as it sounds.
Michael Vick is the No. 6 ranked fantasy QB as of right now, despite his struggles throughout the year.
VIck faces a Dallas Cowboys team that gives up 230 yards per game this year through the air, but literally nothing on the ground.
The Cowboys are only giving up 70 yards rushing per game this year, but Vick picks up a lot of yards on the ground by scrambling. Dallas won't be able to slow that down, so expect him to pick up an extra 60 or 70 yards on the ground this week.
He should easily top the 300 yard mark in total offense and has the potential for three or more touchdowns.
There aren't many elite QBs with favorable matchups this week, but Vick is coming off a bye week, and his offensive line is finally healthy.
All these factors should play into his favor as he finally has his breakout week.
Adrian Peterson (RB, Minnesota Vikings)
2 of 6Adrian Peterson is going to tear up the Carolina Panthers defense this week.
Carolina is giving up over 133 yards per game on the ground this year. Peterson has over 700 yards rushing on the season, giving him an average of more than 100 yards per game.
It's going to be a big week for Peterson in North Carolina.
The Minnesota Vikings are once again starting rookie QB Christian Ponder, who will be doing a lot of handing off in this game. Minnesota is going to want to take the pressure off Ponder in this game, which means Peterson will be utilized quite often.
He has been the lone bright spot for this team offensively, and will once again rise to the occasion this week against a lackluster Panthers run defense.
Mike Wallace (WR, Pittsburgh Steelers)
3 of 6The New England Patriots can't cover anybody this season.
Mike Wallace is a speed demon that is going to run through and by the Patriots secondary on a regular basis. New England released Leigh Bodden today, which simply makes no sense. According to Pro Football Focus, Bodden is the team's top cover cornerback.
The Pats are already giving up over 95 yards per game to No. 1 WRs, so expect their coverage to be worse from here on out.
Wallace has a touchdown in four of his last five games, but look for him to finally record a multi-touchdown game in this one.
New England has no one to cover Wallace, and it's going to show in a huge way this week on your fantasy box scores.
Jimmy Graham (TE, New Orleans Saints)
4 of 6Did you really think you would see a different name here?
Jimmy Graham has caught at least six passes in his last four games, and is coming off a multi-touchdown performance against the Indianapolis Colts.
Graham faces the St. Louis Rams this week who have actually been solid covering the TE this year. However, the Saints do a terrific job of finding ways to get their TE open, especially in the red zone.
He might not pick up a ton of yards this week, but multiple touchdowns will be enough to propel him to the top tight end spot for the week.
You will be smiling at the end of the day if you own Graham.
Dan Bailey (K, Dallas Cowboys)
5 of 6Dan Bailey has been incredible this year.
Since becoming the starting kicker for the Cowboys, Bailey has made 17 of 18 field goal attempts, and has a pretty favorable matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles give up a ton of yards, which means Dallas should have no problem getting into scoring position.
Expect a high scoring game, which could result in three to four field goal attempts for Bailey.
Baltimore Ravens
6 of 6The Ravens are returning home after losing on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
That's bad news for the Arizona Cardinals.
This team is going to come out ferocious, and will absolutely the Cardinals offense. Kevin Kolb has had issues holding onto the football this year. He has thrown seven interceptions this year, and added just seven touchdowns.
Beanie Wells could potentially miss this game, which means the Cardinals are going to really struggle to run the ball. Expect Baltimore to blitz early and often, which will lead to plenty of sacks and turnovers.
