Bethlehem Shoals Presents Quality Minutes, 10/28/11
NBA.com: Renowned Economist Murphy Lends Smarts to NBPA's Cause. Kevin Murphy has won a MacArthur "genius" grant. He's the NBPA's brain trust. Steve Aschburner sits down with him and finds out that the players' side knows a lot of the stuff we were worried they didn't.
B/R: Ten Teams That Should Pursue Allen Iverson. Who knows whether Iverson has any realistic shot at coming back. Probably not; he's already been given more chances than an ordinary player. But AI isn't ordinary. Look at how many comments this got! This man should never be broke.
CBS Sports: NBA Deal Finally Done If Reason Prevails. Ken Berger is one of the brave men who has given up his time, and any chance to sleep, to stake out the 11th-hour meetings. The end may be near, but in a good way.
B/R: Detroit Pistons; Will Team Regret Not Drafting Kemba Walker? If the season starts soon—or if it doesn't—it's about time for buyer's remorse on draft picks. Especially guys like Walker, who suffers when viewed through the looking glass of draft-time but otherwise appears pretty formidable.
Sun Sentinel: LeBron Woos Steve Nash, Jamal Crawford on Twitter. Who does LeBron think he is? Is this legal? Don't worry, Nash is highly unlikely, and Crawford, rad as he is, isn't exactly the answer to this team's PG woes. Ira Winderman reports.
B/R: Halloween Costume Ideas for NBA Players, Coaches and David Stern. I have to admit, I would also have liked to see some suggestions for player-themed costumes.
Sports Agent Blog: Michael Beasley v. Joel Bell Exposes Dark Side of Youth Basketball Recruiting. I hate to break it to you, but some shady stuff goes on before players are supposed to be paid. It's kind of a drag that Beasley, who is close to rehabilitating his career, has to deal with this and be the figurehead for corruption. That said, no one seems surprised, so maybe it will just be a pain in the butt.
B/R: 5 Reasons Why Memphis Grizzlies Could Become a Western Conference Powerhouse? Remember the Grizz? You should. They aren't going away.
