Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
No. 1: Protect Cam
Just because it's talked about every week, doesn't mean it's not a valid point.
As big as Cam Newton is, no one can withstand the sort of beating he's been taking for an entire NFL season.
Cam likes to hold the ball, waiting for his receivers to get open down field, but the Panthers NEED to mix in some timing routes on short drops so Cam can release the ball before the Washington pass rush gets within hitting distance.
No. 2: Rattle John Beck
Today is Beck's first start in four years. Think he was a little hyped for the game?
In the second half, Carolina needs to do a better job of hitting Beck, and confusing him with less-traditional blitz packages, especially on third and long. Beck is a veteran, but practice can't simulate actual game play.
The Panthers can get in Beck's head if they're willing to take some risks.
No. 3: Take a Few Deep Shots
Steve Smith is Cam's biggest weapon, but in the first half he's been a non-factor.
The Panthers need to stretch the field with Smith so that Newton can continue to work the middle of the field with Shockey.
No. 4: Contain Tim Hightower
So far, the Panthers have done an excellent job making life difficult for John Beck, but Tim Hightower is torching Carolina. Now that Beck has shown he isn't much of a danger through the air, it's time for Carolina to bring eight men in the box and stuff the Redskins running backs.
No. 5: Establish a Consistent Running Attack
Jonathan Stewart has had a couple very nice runs in the first half, but he also limped off the field and collapsed in a heap.
It's long since time for DeAngelo Williams to start earning his contract. Running the ball consistently will keep some of the pressure off of Newton and put Carolina in more manageable third and short situations.
