NFL Week 7 Predictions: Texans vs. Titans and More Games Sure to Be Nail-Biters

Eric BowmanOct 21, 2011

The NFL regular season has been one of the best ever, and Week 7 will continue to give fans a great Sunday afternoon filled with fantastic football.

As we approach the midpoint of the season, NFL fans have been blessed with countless comebacks and outstanding finishes since the first game of the season.

Here are three games certain to come down to the wire in Week 7.

Houston at Tennessee

This AFC South showdown might be the most important game of Week 7, and both teams desperately need to win on Sunday, which is exactly why this is one of must-see matchups on Sunday.

Matt Schaub and the Texans entered the season as division favorites because the Indianapolis Colts lost Peyton Manning, but now the Titans are surging and hoping to make their case as the best team in the AFC South.

Tennessee's defense has been a big surprise, as well as Matt Hasselbeck. This team would be very dangerous if they still had Kenny Britt. The Titans will hope that Chris Johnson finally gets it going like the old days, but that's no guarantee.

In the end, I see Arian Foster carrying the load for the Texans while Andre Johnson sits on the sidelines, and the Texans win a close one late in the fourth quarter.

Prediction: Texans 28, Titans 23

Atlanta at Detroit

The Lions are coming off an emotional loss, but they know they can bounce back because the Falcons' secondary isn't very strong, and they won't have an answer for Calvin Johnson.

However, Atlanta will ride Michael Turner and the ground and pound all game long, which will keep this a close game. The best way to beat the Lions is to keep that high-powered offense off the field.

The Falcons have yet to play great football on the road, but since they'll be in a dome environment it will almost feel like home. Of course, the rowdy Detroit crowd will quickly make them realize they're not.

Matthew Stafford will have to make clutch plays, as well as Matt Ryan, but I give the edge to the Falcons because they'll be able to run the ball, whereas the Lions will be one-dimensional since Jahvid Best is likely to be out.

Prediction: Falcons 27, Lions 24

Washington at Carolina

This may not seem like that intriguing of a matchup, but it's going to be a good game. Set to kick-off at 1 p.m. ET, the Panthers will look to end their losing streak with a win over the Redskins.

This is a game that will be a nail biter at the end of the day, and you'll wish you had NFL RedZone or NFL Sunday Ticket to catch it live.

Rookie sensation Cam Newton is coming off an awful three-interception performance, but he's back at home and will play much better. The Redskins, on the other hand, are changing things up by starting John Beck at quarterback, and he'll fare better than Rex Grossman a week ago.

The Panthers will get their first win since Week 3, but the Redskins will put up a great fight. Newton will have a great day for all his fantasy owners, and the Panthers will get a great boost of confidence as they deny a late Redskins comeback in the closing minutes.

Prediction: Panthers 21, Redskins 17
