Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Now Dat Was a Really Huge Win, Wasn't It?

Tom EdringtonOct 17, 2011

What was Dat?

How did Dat happen?

Once again, we find out that this 2011 version of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can be pretty illogical.

If we went by logic, then simply trade Gerald McCoy and LeGarrette Blount.

It's obvious that McCoy is holding this defense back, because they were simply sensational on Sunday in that 26-20 upset of Dem Saints without him.

Same for Blount. It's obvious that he's the problem with the offense—he's keeping Earnest Graham off the field and Graham's the guy we need out there. After all, he put up 109 yards against Dem Saints, didn't he?

Is this the same team that was buried in San Francisco?

It's what you get with youth. It's part of the package, part of the deal. Give Raheem Morris a lot of credit for wiping off the stains of that showing last week and refreshing his team mentally for this huge performance against the Saints.

Keep in mind that the Saints were either right behind the Green Bay Packers or in the top three in those things they call Power Rankings, since there's no coaches poll or BCS in pro football.

Everyone has Power Rankings these days, and these Saints were supposed to be, well, pretty powerful.

The Bucs got what they needed—turnovers from the Saints. Three interceptions, two fumbles.

The first of those interceptions came from Tanard Jackson, who played just days after his reinstatement from a year in exile.

That brings us to the next illogical suggestion. It is illogical to think that Jackson could contribute immediately—but there he was, playing well.

Might as well do away with training camp and OTAs. Jackson proved they're needless.

What this game proved most of all is that these Buccaneers are serious about winning the NFC South, because nothing says "winning the NFC South" better than beating Dem Saints.

Want more illogicality?

Just when you thought Quincy Black was an overpaid underperformer, he gets the interception that squashed what looked like a great Saints comeback. Tell us you didn't think the Saints would score and pull off the 27-26 victory.

Want more illogicality?

Who would have thought the key injuries in this game would involve two coaches?

Simply illogical.

Now the Bucs find themselves at 4-2, tied with the Saints overall, but ahead of the Saints with a 2-0 record in the NFC South.

Go figure.
