Fantasy Football Rankings Week 6: Miles Austin and WRs That Will Be PPR Monsters

Adam WellsOct 16, 2011

Points per reception fantasy leagues are much harder to predict than a standard league because there is so much more depth and detail that you have to pay attention to. It's not all about who is going to have big yardage and two touchdowns, even though those two things do help.

In order to be effective in a PPR league, you must understand tendencies for opposing defenses and how many completions they allow per game. There is a lot of work and in-depth analysis that you have to do in order to build a successful PPR league team.

Luckily, we are here to do that work for you. All that you must do is plug these players into your lineup and watch the points start piling in.

Here are three receivers that are going to be PPR monsters this week.

Miles Austin, Dallas

The Cowboys get their star receiver, Miles Austin, back this week, and it could not come at a better time as they travel to New England to play Tom Brady and Co.

Austin is Tony Romo's favorite target when he is healthy, and the Patriots have the worst pass defense in the NFL by a wide margin.

The Cowboys are going to have to air it out in this game if they want to keep up with the Patriots, which means that Austin will have a ton of balls thrown his way. He is a lock for double-digit catches and at least one touchdown.

Steve Smith, Carolina

Steve Smith's re-emergence as a top-tier wide receiver has been the driving force behind Cam Newton's successful rookie season.

Smith has not been great as a PPR receiver in two of his last three games, but he has a great matchup with Atlanta this week.

His season-high in catches this season is eight, a number which he should easily be able to reach in this game.

Percy Harvin, Minnesota

The idea of using any Vikings wide receiver with Donovan McNabb playing so poorly is scary for a lot of fantasy owners, but they play the Bears, whose secondary has allowed the most completions in the NFL, this week.

Harvin has had five or fewer catches in four of the team's five games this season. His season-high is seven catches, which he should easily surpass on Sunday night.

I won't promise that Harvin gets into the end zone in this game, but he will be a big factor in this game for the Vikings' offense.
