NFL Picks Week 6: Predicting Scores for Every Scheduled Game

John RozumOct 14, 2011

Week 6 in the NFL, much like every other week, is obviously going to be exciting.

But what makes each new week better than the last, is the fact that the smoke clears a little more.

So with that in mind, here are the predicted scores for each game.

49ers (4-1) at Lions (5-0)

If there's a game that the Lions lose before they play Green Bay on Thanksgiving Day, it's this week against the 49ers.

Detroit has a vulnerable pass defense as do the 'Niners, but San Francisco has a much better ground game.

Thanks to RB Frank Gore, San Fran pulls off their second road upset.

San Francisco 28, Detroit 26

Rams (0-4) at Packers (5-0)

There's no way around it. The Rams are going to get obliterated this week by the Packers.

Green Bay is better than them in every facet of the game, and they are healthier.

It's over before kickoff.

Green Bay 56, St. Louis 13

Panthers (1-4) at Falcons (2-3)

If Atlanta wants to avoid a catastrophic breakdown, they must run the ball against Carolina.

Unfortunately, they won't be able to slow down the Panthers' offense, as they have no pass defense.

Thanks to Cam Newton and Steve Smith, the Cats get a big second win over The Dirty Birds.

Carolina 24, Atlanta 21

Colts (0-5) at Bengals (3-2)

The only good thing about this game for the Colts is that Cincinnati isn't too far away from Indianapolis.

The Bengals have a top-10 defense that will shut down the Colts' offense, while Cincy rookie WR A.J. Green has his first career multi-TD game.

Cincinnati 30, Indianapolis 13

Bills (4-1) at Giants (3-2)

This is a must-win game for the Giants, because after the disappointing home loss to Seattle, if they don't respond with a "W" it's going to set them two-plus games back of Washington.

As for the Bills, this is a testing game for their defense, which needs to learn to become dominant without having to rely on forcing turnovers.

Buffalo takes the win however, as their offense is more explosive and their defense has more confidence.

Bills 34, Giants 21

Jaguars (1-4) at Steelers (3-2)

After the home win last week over Tennessee, the Steelers have gained a lot of confidence, whereas the Jaguars are in dire straits offensively.

No rookie QB is going into Pittsburgh and winning, especially when the Steel Curtain knows they have to step it up in order to remain a playoff contender.

Pittsburgh 27, Jacksonville 6

Eagles (1-4) at Redskins (3-1)

The Redskins know 2011 can be their year if they defeat Philly and have a 2-1 NFC East record after five games.

The Eagles' offense is solid despite lacking solid blocking, but the defense is significantly underachieving.

Washington gets the win as they play with not only more confidence, but are a more synergistic team, especially at home.

Washington 23, Philadelphia 17

Texans (3-2) at Ravens (3-1)

Without their two best players in WR Andre Johnson and LB Mario Williams, the Houston Texans are going to have trouble winning against anyone.

That said, the Ravens will dominate them, but even more so since the game is in Baltimore.

Baltimore 31, Houston 14

Browns (2-2) at Raiders (3-2)

The Raiders are clearly the better team, and Cleveland is dealing with this whole Peyton Hillis situation, so they're definitely not going to be focused entirely.

Also, CB Joe Haden hasn't practiced yet this week, and even if he plays he's not going to be 100 percent.

Oakland is more mentally tough and focused, whereas Cleveland needs to rethink itself once again.

Oakland 35, Cleveland 20

Cowboys (2-2) at Patriots (4-1)

The Cowboys are a dangerous team for the Pats, because Dallas is getting WR Miles Austin back and Dez Bryant is closer to 100 percent.

In addition, New England has the worst pass defense, while Big D will have enough to slow down Tom Brady and the Pats' offense.

It's a shootout, but Tony Romo and the 'Boys get a big road win.

Dallas 41, New England 37

Saints (4-1) at Buccaneers (3-2)

This is another tough road test for the Saints. However, Tampa Bay is quite vulnerable after getting slammed by the 49ers in San Francisco.

Also, none of Tampa's wins have been all that impressive, while New Orleans has won four straight.

Drew Brees and Company dominate the young Bucs' defense, while LeGarrette Blount is held in check.

New Orleans 33, Tampa Bay 16

Vikings (1-4) at Bears (2-3)

The key for both teams in this game are their starting RBs—Matt Forte of Chicago and Adrian Peterson of Minnesota.

Neither have a passing game, and both desperately need a win to have any chance at the playoffs.

However, Minnesota takes the victory as Peterson trounces all over Chicago's No. 28-ranked rush defense, and the Vikings' No. 5 rush D isolates Matt Forte.

Minnesota 17, Chicago 7

Dolphins (0-4) at Jets (2-3)

Miami is reverting to backup QB Matt Moore with starter Chad Henne out, and the Jets have the No. 5 pass defense.

It's the Jets' best area, and since Moore is starting, expect Rex Ryan to stack the box because Miami will try to establish a running game.

Jets get a much needed win, whereas the Dolphins are hoping for Andrew Luck.

NY Jets 21, Miami 9
