World Football: 5 Big Stars Who Need a Change of Scenery

Chris SiddellOct 12, 2011

The January transfer window is fast approaching and many of the top clubs in the world are already starting to eye up there next move on the transfer market.

But, forget about which clubs are in need of some fresh faces and a new signing.

We take a look at the five superstars who are in desperate need of a move in January.

5. Carlos Tevez

Well, this has to be one of the most written about football topics this season already.

The saga continues even after transfer requests and talks with almost anyone who would have him seemed to be finished, Tevez has made it clear he is not a big fan of Manchester City.

After his 'refuse to play' incident in Munich, it looks almost certain that Tevez will be a long way from manager Roberto Mancini's plans for the rest of the year.

The only view Tevez is likely to get this season will be from the bench, and he is in desperate need of a move away from City in order for that to change.

4. Neymar

At just 19 years of age things are looking great for Neymar.  Playing as a striker for Brazilian team Santos, he has built a reputation as one of the best young prospects in the world.

Scoring twice during an international friendly on English soil early in 2011 helped greatly with his reputation, but had he been playing regularly in Europe we all would have heard of him long before then.

Despite a huge amount of pressure from the Brazilian public, Neymar was not deemed strong enough for inclusion in the 2010 Brazil World Cup squad.

Had he been playing in a strong European league and performing well, that would not have been the case.

Neymar needs to take advantage of his reputation within Europe and move to one of the giants of Spain or England to further enhance his game and reputation.

Only when playing in one of the top European leagues will he become one of the best in the world.

3. David Beckham

With the London 2012 Olympics coming up in less than a year, Beckham is in desperate need of some new footballing action.

With his contract with the LA Galaxy ending soon, a move to Europe would see Beckham playing competitive football almost right up to the games.

That would make him almost impossible to ignore when it comes time for selecting players to be involved with the new Great Britain team, that he has already expressed interest in.

2. Wesley Sneijder

4 of 5

Wesley Sneijder spent the whole summer trying to manufacture himself a move away from Inter and into the Premier League.

Despite that, he was unsuccessful and remains with Inter as they languish near the bottom of Serie A.

Having already lost star striker Samuel Eto'o to a Russian club, Anzhi Makhachkala, Inter find themselves in a very difficult position, with a new manager fighting to get the Italian giants back up the league.

With Euro 2012 around the corner Sneijder could benefit from a move away from Inter to play in a more successful unit in the build up to the tournament.

1. Frank Lampard

Things are not going to great at the minute for Frank Lampard.

He still has it in his legs, a recent Premier League hat-trick proved that, but it seems he is going to struggle to hold down a regular spot under new Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas.

This has led to the England star no longer being a first choice for the national side, and with Euro 2012 seemingly his last chance for success with England he will be desperate to play a full part in the tournament.

A January move away could see Lampard guarantee first team football and allow him to cement a place in the England team in advance of the tournament.

A loan move to another Premier League side, someone like Fulham, Aston Villa or Sunderland could be of great benefit in Lampard's case.
