King Mo: Planning To Take Rampage's Spot and "Put His Bitch Ass on the B-Team"

Jordy McElroyOct 7, 2011

Former Strikeforce champion Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal and former UFC champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson have never quite seen eye to eye.

The feud stems from a July 2009 encounter on a ride to an autograph signing at the UFC Fan Expo for UFC 100.

Rampage and King Mo went back and forth about past comments and overall accomplishments in the sport.

While King Mo felt like he was a young lion on his way up, Rampage felt like he wasn't getting the respect he deserved as a true legend in the sport.

Since the encounter, both light heavyweights have continued to snub their noses at one another, but being in separate promotions, there isn't much to act on—until now.

The UFC has begun the process of acquiring major Strikeforce fighters.

Strikeforce champions Jake Shields, Nick Diaz and Dan Henderson were among the first to jump ship.

If King Mo is next, it won't take a rocket scientist to figure out who he'd like to fight in his UFC debut.

"Rampage can talk all that noise, but I'm going to take his spot. I'm gonna put his bitch ass on the B-Team," King Mo said in an interview with Percy Crawford of FightHype.com.

Rampage's boxing is some of the most dangerous in all of MMA. A plethora of legends and highly respected talent have all been knocked out cold by his devastating power.

Most would think King Mo, an NCAA Division II national wrestling champion, would want to rely on his grappling in a bout with a striker of Rampage's caliber, but the former Central Oklahoma Broncho is confident in his ability to best the standup exchanges and win the fight on the feet.

"His punk ass wants to say I won't stand up and box him. The thing is, I can take him down. He can't stop my takedowns," said King Mo.

"

Trust me. But I can make it interesting and embarrass him at his own game and stand with him. I can hit him with a wide left hook or an overhand right, and what's he gonna do? He has no jab. I don't have to worry about that. He punches slow, he is heavy-footed, and the worst thing is after the fight, he sounds like William Joppy.

"

As of now, Rampage is still in need of an opponent for possibly the UFC's return to Japan in February.

King Mo is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Roger Gracie. This is a great opportunity for the UFC to capitalize on a major feud between two world-class stars.

In the words of "Big" John McCarthy, "Let's get it on!"
