Week 4 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Last Minute Advice for Beanie Wells and 4 Others

Gary DavenportOct 2, 2011

With the late slate of games due to kick off in about an hour, here's a look at some fantasy football start/sit recommendations for a handful of players that will be taking the field this afternoon.

Beanie Wells - RB, Arizona Cardinals (vs. NYG)

Wells is set to return to the Cardinals lineup after missing last week's game, and has an OK matchup against a New York Giants defense that ranks in the middle of the pack against the run, but there's no telling how long the oft-nicked Wells will be able to stay in the game, and that concern is enough that fantasy owners should SIT him.

James Starks - RB, Green Bay Packers (vs. DEN)

With Green Bay running back Ryan Grant out for today, the job of featured back for the Pack will fall to James Starks, and going up against a so-so Denver Broncos run defense Starks should see enough touches to make him a more than viable fantasy START.

Willis McGahee - RB, Denver Broncos (at GB)

McGahee has topped 20 carries each of the past two games, but with running back Knowshon Moreno back in the mix in the Denver backfield, and facing the NFL's stingiest run defense in the Green Bay Packers, fantasy owners should keep McGahee glued to the bench this week. SIT him.

Torrey Smith - WR, Baltimore Ravens (vs. NYJ)

Rookie wide receiver Torrey Smith exploded last week for five receptions, 152 yards and three scores, but New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has stated that lightning isn't going to strike twice, and given the Jets formidable pass defense, we're inclined to believe him, so fantasy owners would be well advised to SIT Smith this week.

Randy McMichael - TE, San Diego Chargers (vs. MIA)

No team in the National Football League has allowed more fantasy points to opposing tight ends than the Miami Dolphins, so with Antonio Gates out with a foot injury, McMichael is a solid fantasy spot START for owners with a need at the position.
