UFC on Versus 6 Results: What's Next For The Losers
UFC on Versus 6 displayed some of the best fights of the entire year including a five-round title fight between Dominick Cruz and Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson.
At the end of the evening, Cruz saw his hand raised in front of a jam-packed Verizon Center crowd at the nation's capitol, giving Johnson the second loss of his career.
Other main card fighters who left Washington, DC defeated were Mac Danzig, Charlie Brenneman and Pat Barry.
For the losers, some fighters will simply have to bounce back, while others may find their UFC run in jeopardy.
Let's take a look at what's next for the losers of UFC on Versus 6.
Mac Danzig Loses to Matt Wiman by Round 3 Unanimous Decision
1 of 4Mac Danzig has been a bit of a fan favorite since winning Season 6 of The Ultimate Fighter by defeating Tommy Speer via rear-naked choke.
Danzig went on to win his next bout, defeating Mark Bocek at UFC 83 also by way of rear-naked choke.
Following two consecutive victories, Danzig went on to lose three straight fights and four of his last five.
Then, at UFC on Versus 6, Danzig went the distance with Matt Wiman only to come up short once again.
Danzig has now lost five of his last seven fights and is in seriously jeopardy of losing his spot within the UFC.
Possible Next Fight: Spencer Fisher or Ross Pearson
Charlie Brenneman Loses to Anthony Johnson by Round 1 TKO
2 of 4Charlie Brenneman entered UFC on Versus 6 coming off the biggest victory of his career over Rick Story at UFC Live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Brenneman was recognized as the dark horse of the welterweight division after winning three of his first four UFC bouts.
Anthony Johnson proved the "Spaniard" wasn't a threat in the 170-pound weight class by head kicking him to the ground for a technical knockout in the very first round.
Despite it being the most embarrassing defeat of Brenneman's mixed martial arts career, his job is not in jeopardy.
Possible Next Fight: Dan Hardy or Loser of John Hathaway vs. Matt Brown
Pat Barry Loses to Stefan Struve by Round 2 Submission
3 of 4Pat Barry entered UFC on Versus 6 coming off arguably the toughest defeat of his MMA career to Chieck Kongo at a UFC Live event this past June.
Barry entered the UFC with extremely high expectations only to produce a subpar 3-3 record, including two defeats by way of submission and one by knockout.
Known for his knockout power, Barry hasn't knocked anyone out since October of 2009.
Being one of the more notable heavyweight fighters in the UFC, Barry's job is secure for now.
Next Possible Fight: Rob Broughton or Winner of Roy Nelson vs. Mirko Cro Cop
Demetrious Johnson Loses to Dominick Cruz by Round 5 Unanimous Decision
4 of 4Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson entered UFC on Versus 6 as arguably the fastest fighter in MMA today.
Despite coming up short in a unanimous decision against the bantamweight champion, Johnson has a bright future in the UFC.
Johnson will look to build upon his loss and regain focus in hopes of another run towards a title shot.
Next Possible Fight: Winner of Scott Jorgensen vs. Jeff Curran or Loser of Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles
