Number 10: Sean Sherk
1 of 10Although Sherk won a controversial split decision against Evan Dunham at UFC 119, he still showed that he could hang with younger fighters.
Sherk has been out since that fight rehabbing injuries.
Sherk may not be in the mix for a title any time soon, but his only losses have come to former or current UFC champions.
Number 9: Dennis Siver
2 of 10Winner of his last 4 fights, Dennis Siver won a close decision fight against Matt Wiman at UFC 132.
Siver is known for his dangerous spinning back kick.
Originally scheduled to take on Sam Stout at UFC 137, Siver will now take on Donald Cerrone.
Number 8: Donald Cerrone
3 of 10Winner of his last five, Donald Cerrone has made the transition from the WEC to the UFC look easy.
Cerrone can be dangerous both on the feet and on the ground, and as long as he’s not facing Ben Henderson, he could be knocking on the door for a title shot.
Cerrone will take on Dennis Siver at UFC 137.
Number 7: Anthony Pettis
4 of 10Anthony Pettis would have been next in line for a title shot.
But after Edgar and Maynard fought to a draw, Pettis chose to take a fight against Clay Guida.
Pettis lost the fight despite going for many submission attempts and taking little damage.
Pettis will have a chance to rebound when he takes on Jeremy Stephens at UFC 136.
Number 6: Jim Miller
5 of 10Jim Miller was well on his way to a title shot before losing to Ben Henderson.
Along with Henderson, the only people Miller has lost to are Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar.
While the loss to Henderson is a setback, Miller could only be a couple of wins away from reaching the title once again.
Number 5: Melvin Guillard
6 of 10Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard has been on quite a run as of late.
Winner of his last five, Guillard is making a strong push for a title shot.
Guillard will have his hands full with tough submission expert Joe Lauzon at UFC 136.
Number 4: Ben Henderson
7 of 10Former WEC Lightweight champion Ben Henderson made a statement when he defeated Jim Miller at UFC Live 5 in August.
Henderson is now 2-0 in the UFC and could be on his way to a title shot if he can get past Clay Guida at UFC on Fox 1.
Number 3: Clay Guida
8 of 10Currently riding a four fight winning streak, Guida had a huge victory over Anthony Pettis in June.
Guida has fought his way through the lightweight division for a long time and could finally be on his way to a title shot.
He will have to go through the one fighter who could match his energy, Ben Henderson, at UFC on Fox.
Number 2: Gray Maynard
9 of 10Gray Maynard is currently undefeated.
He’s also the only man to defeat current UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
Maynard nearly put Edgar out for a second time when the two fought for the title at UFC 125.
Maynard and Edgar will meet a third time at UFC 136.
Frankie Edgar
10 of 10The only loss on Frankie Edgar’s record is to Gray Maynard.
Edgar was nearly stopped by Maynard at UFC 125, but showed the true heart of a champion and battled through the next 4 rounds to earn a draw.
Edgar and Maynard will meet again next Saturday at UFC 136.
