UFC on Versus 6 Results: Josh Neer Rearranges Keith Wisniewski's Face
After two years outside of the UFC, Josh Neer made his return to the Octagon for a bout against Keith Wisniewski at UFC on Versus 6. As expected, Neer, who earned wins in six of his seven fights since being released from the UFC, came out looking to work his way inside and scrap with Wisniewski.
In the first round, Neer was very successful in doing just that, as he landed some short elbows and hooks to the body of Wisniewski. But it was Wisniewski that landed the most significant blow of the round, though, which came after Neer told his corner between rounds that he may have had his ribs broken.
Nonetheless, the 28-year-old Neer continued to take the fight to Wisniewski. Throughout the second frame, Neer continued to rearrange Wisniewski's face with short elbows to the head. After losing a lot of blood from a cut over his eye, Wisniewski was deemed unable to continue by the ringside doctor.
Despite saying that he believed his ribs were broken between the first and second round, Josh Neer told Joe Rogan that his ribs were not broken in a post-fight interview during a live Facebook stream of the event.
"“I knew Keith was going to be a tough opponent since he’s a mid-west guy like me," Neer told the UFC in a press release obtained by Bleacher Report. "I practiced the clinch a lot and I’m glad I did because that’s exactly where we spent most of the fight. I felt like I was physically stronger than him all night, especially in the clinch. I really thought the ref would have stopped it sooner since it was starting to look pretty bad in there. He may not have been ready to be done tonight, but he’s going to feel pretty beat up tomorrow morning.”"
