UFC 135 Results: Should Rashad Evans Be Scared of Jon Jones?

Tim McTiernanJun 7, 2018

On Saturday night, Jon Jones was able to submit Rampage Jackson with a rear naked choke in the fourth round, and it wasn't even a struggle.

After the fight, Rashad Evans was once again brought into the cage, just as he was after Jones' win at UFC 128, and Evans was able to "ruin" Jones' special night again.

Rashad is now next in line for a title shot, and after watching Jones dismantle another top opponent, should Rashad Evans be scared of Jon Jones?

As a fighter, no, Rashad should not be scared of Jones.

The second a fighter admits, or even thinks, that they are scared of an opponent, they've already lost the mental game.

Fortunately, Rashad is mentally strong and isn't likely to get inside his own head about this.

The only reason that Rashad should be scared of Jones is the fact that the public falling out between these two has left a lot of bad blood, and should Jones go out there looking to hurt Rashad, it'll be a bad night.

Jones has been able to handle all of his opponents with ease, but should he just want to lay a 25-minute smackdown on Rashad, he could probably do that too.

Rashad shouldn't be scared of Jones, because he can't afford to be scared of Jones.
