WWE's Best Individual and Tag Team Champions of All Time

Giulio RomanoNov 9, 2011

The champion...

The best of the best in his or her category and the once to represent all the others when the time comes.

Only a select few have greatly influenced this business, the world of pro wrestling, and while some have faded into obscurity or passed on into the next world, their legacy continues.

Join me as we flip through the pages of this article and take a look at the past, present and future champions to have graced us with their presence for decades on the squared circle.

Right away, let me thank all the Superstars and Divas for giving me such a great time though out the years and made sure I have a passion for writing about and cheering them which remains strong to this day.

We don't know all the sacrifices you have made or will make over the years but to me you are my heroes and I will always be a devoted fan.

To those that have departed us...you will never be forgotten.

The Very First WWE Champion

1 of 46

Buddy Rogers

With its long and prestigious lineage, the WWE championship has been active since 1963 and is the greatest prize in all of pro-wrestling to this day.

The very first champion, Buddy Rogers, was apparently crowned in Brazil after a tournament (funny how they always hold them there) once the old WWWF withdrew from the NWA.

He is the original "Nature Boy" and has inspired the likes of Ric Flair to the point where the man just adopted his nickname for himself.

Rogers passed away in 1992 at the age of 71 and has been inducted into the Hall of Fame class of 1994.

WWE championship: one time (the inaugural champion 1963)

The Living Legend

2 of 46

The legendary Bruno Sammartino can be compared to the Hulk Hogan of the 1980s with his immense popularity.

He is the longest-reigning WWE Champion in history at an astonishing eight years! WOW! That is like the New WWE Generation AND Attitude Eras combined.

Sammartino quickly disposed of Buddy Rogers to win the title and seemed to be on his way to hold it until he died. The people absolutely loved him. In fact, he was so beloved that when Ivan Koloff dethroned him in 1971, the crowd was absolutely silent, as if someone just died.

Bruno had to stay in the ring and allow Koloff to leave in order to avoid a riot. Imagine that! Unlike John Cena and his 1000th reign, people actually cried when Sammartino lost.

Why didn't we riot this past Sunday? Coulda, woulda, shoulda...

The immense popularity of his character led to Vince McMahon Sr. putting the title on him one more time in 1973 for another four years. If anything, the title was beyond valuable back then and this man was a true, defending champion.

Injury forced Bruno Sammartino to lose the title to "Superstar" Billy Graham in 1977 after which he remained a strong figure in the company until 1988.

Now at 75 years of age, this living legend is very critical of the way WWE is handled. It is not as he remembers it and he has been outspoken on how Vince McMahon Jr. derailed the product since taking it off his father's hands.

I wish he could speak louder. The good things going so far this summer seems to be fading fast for the same old bull****.

WWE championship: two times

The First Triple Crown Champion

3 of 46

The pride and joy of Puerto Rican fans.

Pedro Morales was a great fan favorite back in the day and is credited in being the very first Triple Crown Champion, a man to have held all major titles in a company.

He won his first and only WWE championship from Ivan Koloff in February of 1971.

In fact, he was so popular that an encounter versus Bruno Sammartino for the WWE championship was not allowed because back then, "faces" could not battle "faces."

They eventually did however in 1972 and after 75 minutes of incredible action, the match ended in a draw. The fans were so irate they stormed the ring. I wish we could do that sometimes in 2011.

Pedro held the title for close to three years until finally defeated by Stan Stasiak (father of wrestler Shawn Stasiak a.k.a Meat in the 90s.)

He left the company for some time and returned to complete his collection by winning the Intercontinental and Tag Team championships in the 80s. WrestleMania II was the only mega-event he participated in and left WWE altogether in 1987.

Pedro Morales has also been a Spanish-language commentator for WWE later in his life.

The Last Hero Before Hulkamania

4 of 46

Bob Backlund

This man was the last favorite champion to stand strong before the advent of "Hulkamania" in the early 1980s.

He won the WWE championship from  "Superstar" Billy Graham in 1978 and held it for an impressive five and a half years. Despite some controversy with his title reign which saw him lose the title twice (WWE does not recognize this) the man was a favorite amongst the fans and competed in champion versus champion matches involving Harley Race and Ric Flair to name a few.

Time were different then as the old WWF and the NWA weren't so estranged and global.

After years of being champion. the people seemed to tired of him and his lack of defenses against fan favorites such as Tito Santana. Vince McMahon Jr. also wished to put the title on his pet project, the incredibly popular and muscular tower known as Hulk Hogan.

Hogan could carry the company to where McMahon wanted and Backlund's time had come to an end. He lost his championship to the Iron Sheik in December of 1983 when Arnold Skaaland (his manager) threw in the towel. Bob Backlund was scripted to have an injury prior to the match which saw the Sheik become a transitional champion.

He left and returned to WWE in the early to mid 90s and recaptured the championship from Bret "Hitman' Hart at the Survivor Series of 1994. The match was a reconstruction of is own title bout where Hart's mother threw in the towel signalling the beginning of Backlund's second reign.

Poor Bob could barely enjoy his belt as "Diesel" Kevin Nash pinned him for it three days later. He later participated in an "I Quit" match against Bret Hart at WrestleMania XI and was defeated.

He is 62 years old today and lives in Connecticut. He could very well make a special return since anything seems to happen in WWE. His last appearance came during the 15-year celebration of Monday Night RAW in 2007.

The Man Who Made Pro-Wrestling

5 of 46

Hulkamania is running wild! Watcha gonna do?!

Hulk Hogan made wrestling. Let's get that clear right away. He may have fallen a little bit over the years but his contribution to the sport is priceless and will forever be remembered.

The only thing that saddens me about him right now is the fact he chose to end his career in TNA rather than being with his true family, the WWE.

This Icon has been around since the 70s but the real American hero we have come to love and worship for decades was born on January 23rd, 1984. The "Hulkster" won his very first World championship by defeating the Iron Sheik and thus, as the late-great Gorilla Monsoon said, "Hulkamania" was born.

The rest is pretty much very important pro-wrestling history.

It was pretty much up since then until a small down in the late 90s and then the change happened. Hulk Hogan turned to the dark side and the NWO was born. With that, the revival of his career as he reclaimed his crown as one of the hottest acts in the business and with it, almost led the WWE to oblivion as WCW gained more and more power.

Hulk Hogan seems to be on his way to retirement. At 58, with his broken body and small media scandals, perhaps it is the best time.

My one request, besides a Cena character alteration, is that this legend returns home to WWE at least once before he calls it quits.

What a treat that would be.

Da Naitcha Boy! Woooo!

Like Hulk Hogan's slide before his, how can we sum up all of Ric Flair's accomplishments on one slide?

The man is a pro-wrestling legend and still alive and doing it for that matters. Again, like Hogan, I hope he gets to pay a visit to WWE before he calls it quits in some way, shape or form. Me thinks a verbal duel with The Miz or CM Punk could be more than anyone could ever expect.

Having been around for decades, Ric Flair is a true master of his art and his passion for the business keeps him going. I think he also can't hang it up because of the amazing lifestyle he lives. One cannot just simply give up being the "Nature Boy" can he?

Here is a toast...to the man...whom you've got to beat...to BE the man...WOOOO!

The Most Spectacular Character in History

7 of 46

The "Macho Man" Randy Savage.

We just lost him this year to a heart attack while driving. Unfortunately for the younger folks, they will never get to witness the grandeur that his character was in and outside the ring.

He was unique. There aren't that many Superstars I can say that about honestly. He played the hero and the villain with such passion and perfection you could do nothing but feel the appropriate emotion, whether love or hate, while watching him.

Along with the lovely Elizabeth, who still to this day, takes my breath away and is the one and only FIRST lady of the WWE, Randy Savage mesmerized the audience and delivered onto it the very fabric of perfection.

His work was flawless!

I just hope the WWE treats him to the honor he deserves and inducts him immediately, if not sooner, into the Hall of Fame.

The Greatest Intercontinental Champion of All Time

8 of 46

Elvis has left the building!

The Honky Tonk Man carried with him the piece of gold known as the Intercontinental championship longer than anyone else in the history of the title. His reign began when he unexpectedly defeated Rick Steamboat on June 3rd, 1987 and went on to rule until the inaugural SummerSlam on August 29th, 1988.

Say what you like about him, his character or his cheating ways, the man pulled it off. he did what he had to do to retain his title and for that I believe he should be on this list. There have been countless forgetful championship reigns in history. HTM's is not one of them.

Everyone knows who he is. We all loved to hate him and he played such a ridiculous character but he made it his own and engraved himself into our minds and the record books forever.

Intercontinental championship: once. Longest reign ever at 454 days.

The Enforcer

9 of 46

Arn Anderson

Here is a fine example of incredible talent falling between the cracks and never being given a World championship reign.

I am not fluently versed in Double A history but I have seen him wrestle and speak his mind over the years and I am convinced of his skill. Not only was he part of one of the greatest stables ever assembled in the Four Horseman, he also sided with Ric Flair and the two of them dominated the old NWA back in the 80s.

He could co-exist with any partner and this allowed him to claim a few Tag Team titles. He brought prestige to every championship he held and if it weren't for injuries, this man could have very well had a few more years and perhaps a World Heavyweight belt added to his impressive resume.

Now, at 53, Arn Anderson makes sporadic appearances on WWE television and giving golden advice to champions and challengers alike. He is currently the senior producer of the RAW Supershow.

Tag Team championship: six (one WWE and five WCW) with Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard (WWE-WCW) Larry Zbyszko, Bobby Eaton and Paul Roma

Television championship: four times

The Ultimate Animal

10 of 46

The idol I worshipped during my youth.

This phenomenon known as The Ultimate Warrior destroyed everything in his path. Not only was he the "coolest" character a kid like me could like but he was unbeatable and his matches lasted a mere five minutes at best.

Even when he spoke, we couldn't understand a word he was saying but we ate up every single one of then and cheered him on nonetheless. His feud with "Ravishing" Rick Rude is one of the most personal I ever witnessed. I was there for SummerSlam 1989 and my heart was pounding very hard that night. You rarely ever get a match with so much hype like their's was nowadays.

He was like an explosion. Impressive one minute then fades away and disappears. Isn't that what happened to him anyway?

The Ultimate Warrior will always be many old WWE fans' favorite as well as mine.

WWE championship: once

Intercontinental championship: twice

Only man to ever hold both titles at once.

The Phenom

11 of 46

This is the most valuable character the WWE has and should he leave or retire, the world would truly be diminished.

Forget John Cena, The Undertaker is the true landmark and has been around for 20 years.

People love his awesome entrance music and effects. It sends chills down your spine and cannot be duplicated.

The Phenom has captured countless championship and has been beloved as he was reviled over the years but one thing is for sure, he has the respect and admiration of fans and peers alike without question.

The lucky guy is also married to Michelle McCool, a beautiful and smart woman who ruled the Women's division by playing the game right. Politics! Don't mess with teachers people...that's REAL TALK!

I cannot wait for him to return this year and hopefully some plans can change and we get to see John Cena challenge the streak on April 1st. It will be the battle to end all battles and in the end, there can be only one.

When the dust settles...The Undertaker stands tall. No one defeats him.

The Best There Is, Was and Ever Will Be

12 of 46

Bret "Hit Man" Hart.

Let's say that again...Bret "Hit Man" Hart. His name is fame and his accomplishments, legend.

He broke the mold on what is a true champion. Defending against all comers anytime, anywhere was his motto and he did it proudly in WWE as well as in WCW late in his career.

Even his championship belt was exceptional. CM Punk refers to it as "the Bret Hart belt" and the WWE hasn't been the same since its replacement. The Hitman has defeated every single superstar put in his way. Sometimes, it didn't even matter how he did it but he did...remember the metal plate Goldberg! Too bad it didn't end YOUR career.

There is so much I could say about him. He inspired a generation of superstars and his peers speak so highly of him. He is in a category only a select few possess a key for.

Now that he has returned to WWE after letting go of the past, one can only hope his skill and experience can rub off some of the new, younger talent.

We need that more than ever now.

Mr. WrestleMania

13 of 46

Who is the Icon? Who is the Show-stopper? Who is the Main Event? Who is Mr. WrestleMania?

The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels.

Like the devil, he has so many names and he's been known to BE a little devil at some times but now has found salvation through Christ ironically and his family.

His last match came at WrestleMania XXVI. Challenging the streak two years in a row and delivering a stellar performance both times was something perhaps only good old HBK could do.

Did anyone expect the likes of Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels to make it big in a big muscles, Hulk Hogan world? Not many did back then but he did it! The Boy Toy captured singles gold and participated in legendary matches such as the Ladder match of Mania X versus real-life pal Scott Hall.

This living legend played his part so well we most certainly hated his guts at times. It was almost personal but that means he was a master of his art.

Time will tell if we will ever see him grace us with his presence in a WWE ring again. I firmly believe he called it quits for good as a performer but it doesn't rule out the other possibilities...conspiracies ring a bell?

The One Who Is That Damn Good!

14 of 46

Here is your current WWE Chief Operating Officer. None other than "The Game" Triple H himself.

Bow down to the king!

Nowadays, we seem to be interested in finding out if he or another is the leader of the so-called conspiracy. Triple H has led many groups in his time but the whole company, that's a different level. The changes made recently seem to be taking a turn for the better and only time will tell if they are successful.

Being one of the few remaining ACTIVE Attitude era characters, there is little left for him to prove in the ring. His collection of titles and matches indicate that he should be inducted into the hall of fame as soon as he hangs up his boots.

Ruling the entire WWE Universe alongside Queen Stephanie, that sounds like a great way to go out.

The People's champion, the Brahma Bull, The Rock!

Already scheduled to make a return to the ring later this year and of course, WrestleMania XXVIII against John Cena, this Icon of pro-wrestling has left his mark during the late 90s and 00s. We will never look at an eyebrow the same way again.

Not only is he an establish athlete in the ring, he is also a mega-star having scored millions at the box office for movies like .The Scorpion King" and "Fast Five." Dwayne Johnson is a once-in-a-lifetime character with rare, innate talent.

It would seem like the WWE needs him more than he needs them in the near future....shhh! Don't say that too loud.

Oh Hell! Where to begin with this one.

The man saved wrestling altogether. He was the spark that lead WWE into the Monday Night wars and his victory at WrestleMania XIV ushered in the Attitude era.

Stone Cold delivered his own brand of justice by beating up all challengers and never taking no for an answer. If you didn't like it then you had two things coming your way: him flipping you the bird followed by a "Stunner."

A marvelous sight. We ate it all up.

Kurt Angle.

This former two-time Olympic gold medalist is a one-of-a-kind character. He is a natural-born, authentic wrestler.

Who knew he had the mic skills to match? He did his job so well as the heel too...I totally hated his character. It's true! It's true!

Now at 42, Angle remains in excellent shape and makes life a living hell for former wife Karen and "Husband" Jeff Jarrett in TNA. When asked what he wishes for the future, he clearly states he wishes to finish off his career on the Impact Zone.

If that makes him happy...good for him. He is also planning to participate in 2012 Summer Olympics in London. I would love to see that. make that three medals!

Chris Jericho...the best in the world at what he does...and one of the most demanded Superstars at the moment.

Who would have thought he would get this far in his career when he started? I was unhappy when X-Pac lost the WCW Cruiserweight title to him because the NWO angle was red-hot then...imagine now...many World championships later, Chris Jericho is one of my all-time favorites.

To become the very first undisputed WWE Champion in history is something in a class of its own. Mark my words, there will be a time when the titles reunite but to be the first...Hall of Fame material right there.

Chris Jericho could very well be finished with his in-ring career at this point but something tells me he will return when the time is perfect not a second sooner. Here's hoping it is sooner rather than later.

The Ultimate Opportunist

19 of 46

Edge is...the Rated-R Superstar, the Ultimate Opportunist and a mutiple Mr. Money in the Bank.

His career was cut short earlier this year due to injury where he was forced to retire and we have missed him ever since.

Not only did he participate in some of the greatest tag team matches in history (he literally made TLC) Edge became a notorious character bent on wining by any means necessary. As John Cena's one and only true Achilles heel, the Ultimate Opportunist captured World title after World title and it wouldn't be surprising if he ended up in the Hall of Fame as early as next year.

Time will tell if we get to see him involved in an actual storyline in the future but I wouldn't bet against it. The next generation of Superstars would greatly profit from lessons taught by the master manipulator.

Now, he is enjoying life...good for you Edge! You deserve it.

The Hardcore Legend

20 of 46

Mick Foley...Dude Love...Mankind...Cactus Jack...so many names, one Legend.

Doing his best to give the fans the best matches he could all the while putting over young up-and-coming talent is what this man is known for. A truly honorable Superstar and a genuinely decent man, Mick Foley has put his body on the life for us.

He was a pivotal character in the forever remembered "Attitude" era of 1997-2001.

After years in TNA, this Legend made his recent return to WWE and has apparently already picked his opponent for the future in The Miz. His presence in the company will only serve to make things a hundred times better and should we get one more match, I know for certain I will not be disappointed.

Bang Bang! Can't wait to see you appear on television Mick...welcome home!

The Longest Champion Ever

21 of 46

Who is the most dominant Diva to ever set foot in the ring?

No it's not Chyna, Beth Phoenix or Michelle McCool. Her name is Moolah and she meant business!

Her reign was officially penned at 28 years!

She was involved in an angle with pop singing icon Cindy Lauper and her protégé Wendi Richter and on July 23 1984, Moolah lost her title to Richter on the MTV Broadcast dubbed "The brawl to end it all."

She participated in the very first WrestleMania which saw her own pupil Leilani Kai lose her championship back to Richter, whom she won it from a few months earlier. By hook or by crook, this legendary figure was determined to regain what was hers and if others couldn't pull it off then she would have to take matters into her own hands.

Masked and announced as "the Spider" Moolah defeated Wendi Richter on November 25th of 1985 in was was called "the original screwjob" since the champion was not informed she was to lose the title.

Nevertheless, the Fabulous Moolah would remain strong in the Women's division until her semi-retirement and eventually returned to the ring in the late 90s to recapture the title from Ivory despite her 76 years of age making her the oldest champion in history.

She was honored as the first woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995 and sadly passed away in 2007 at the impressive age of 84.

Kelly Kelly, watch some of her matches and take notes...that is how you run the ropes.

Wendi Richter...a hall of famer who's role helped put the old WWF on the map.

She was the one to end the Fabulous Moolah's 28-year reign as Women's Champion and in 1985 became a key figure in the Rock and Wrestling Connection along with her "manager" pop Icon Cindy Lauper.

Don't let her good looks fool you, this proud Texan meant business in the ring. She was the spitting image of the sexy divas in the 1980s.

Though she left the WWE in 1985 under controversial circumstances (Original Screwjob/Spider Lady affair) Wendy Richter let bygones be bygones and was inducted into the Hall of Fame just last year.

A little forgiveness goes a long way.

The Ninth Wonder of the World

23 of 46

Chyna

According to Cody Rhodes, she was a disgrace to the Intercontinental championship. How wrong is that comment?

She brought so much prestige by being the very first woman to ever capture it. This once-in-a-lifetime character was also the first of her kind to participate in the King of the Ring tournament and the Royal Rumble respectively. The first woman to become a number one contender for the WWE championship.

The ninth wonder of the world dominated her opponents and reigned unchallenged in the Divas division until her departure back in 2001.

Unfortunately for her, the demons that haunted her took over and sent her spiraling out of control. Time will tell if she ever returns to the WWE or simply puts the pieces of her life back together.

One can only wish for a duel against the Glamazon or Kharma someday.

Trish Stratus

Ai yai yai!

Canadian first of all (we produce the hottest women up here), this lady set the bar quite high for the women in her division and has had great matches with other exceptional character like Lita and Mickie James.

Whether a face or a heel, we just couldn't stop staring at her and she is well known inside and outside the ring. A heavy participant in various charities, Trish Stratus is beloved by fans all over the world. She is the only woman to hold the Women' championship a record seven times and has defended it proudly throughout her career.

If you want to make the Women's division strong again then all you have to do is play with her in the upcoming WWE'12 videogame where she will be available under the Legends category.

The Face of Extreme

25 of 46

Lita is the queen of extreme.

As of right now, there are rumors of her return to WWE whether part or full time. That would be one of the most positive decisions the company could make as Lita is one of the best performers I have ever seen.

She was never afraid to try new moves and even though she broke herself a few times, she always came back and outdid herself every time. Lita received backlash in the past due to her relationship with Edge and eventually left WWE because she couldn't take the negativity.

How stupid we must feel now...defending a guy like Matt Hardy at her expense. How things have changed. I would give almost anything to have her back in the ring. We shot ourselves in the foot on that one.

She even took it to Chyna and almost defeated the Ninth Wonder of the world in 2001. Not many women can say that.

Come back soon Lita...we need you!

Women's championship: four

The 8-Time Women's Champion

26 of 46

Mickie James.

The only woman to hold every major championship known to womankind and in my opinion, one of the hottest females on the face of this earth.

She arrived on the scene as Trish Stratus' obsessed fan later stalker but eventually became a huge fan favorite. I still can't believe she accepted to participate in the horrendous "Piggy James" storyline. What an insult! She is beautiful...nothing less.

Mickie James is in TNA right now and also pursues her country music career. She has made history and someday I hope she return home to WWE and puts things back in the right direction. A feud with Kharma would be really good.

Talk about hardcore country! Oh Mickie you're so fine!

The Most Powerful Diva in Pro-Wrestling

27 of 46

Michelle McCool is THE most powerful Diva in the history of Pro-Wrestling...period!

She dominated the Women's division for years and married The Undertaker during that time. Talk about playing it smart. No one can deny her abilities as well. I think she and Melina put on great matches and she was so annoying as a heel it worked! I love seeing her Real Talk! her way to the top.

Just look at her. 5'10, blond and slim with an academic background to match. Who in their right mind would ever challenge that? She made history by becoming the first woman to hold the WWE Women's and Divas championships AND becoming the very first Unified Divas Champion.

Some say her success is a result of her relationship with The Phenom but to me that is blasphemy! Jealous are those who fail in their own lives and attempt to destroy the "good" crop of people. Let it eat at them until it destroys them.

Michelle McCool is a great and powerful Diva and if she does return to WWE soon, it will be to make right all the wrong done so far.

Divas championship: twice. First woman to hold both the Women's and Divas titles.

The First Triple Crown Champions

28 of 46

The Road Warriors, Hawk and Animal.

Legendary is the least we can say about these Hall of Famers. The first Triple Crown Champions in history having won the titles from the WCW/NWA, WWE and AWA brands.

They made their mark and revolutionized the tag team world in a time where the division was flourishing. Who could forget their manager as well, Paul Ellering. What a dynamic unit. To face the Legion of Doom meant only pain and suffering in the ring...what a rush!

Sadly Hawk a.k.a Michael James Hegstrand passed away in 2003 of a heart attack and had a history of battles with his inner demons which he eventually silenced. They have been honored this past spring by being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and rightfully so.

Who can remember their finisher "The Doomsday Device." What an incredible move.

Harlem Heat and Booker T.

My bad for not putting them in here first...I simply forgot. Thank God for "edit this article."

You are right readers about this team belonging here. They were so good. I can't believe I skipped them.

It's alright, damage averted.

We all know by now how good Booker T did afterwards with his solo career. World Heavyweight championships, Intercontinental championships, matches with John Cena and a color-commentator spot on Friday Night Smackdown.

He is scheduled to enter a feud with Cody Rhodes over his IC title. That would do wonders for Rhodes and show the world Booker T still has what it takes to be a real star.

Spinaroony!!!

Booker T:

Tag Team Excellence

30 of 46

The Steiner Brothers, Rick and Scott.

These two famous collegial athletes are amongst my personal favorites. They really had a great chemistry and their moves were fantastic to watch especially Scott's Frankensteiner.

They captured the gold in WCW and then moved along to bigger terrain in WWE and snatched the gold there too. Both men acheived success as singles in their own right as Scott became known as Big Poppa Pump and took home a WCW World Heavyweight championship at one time.

It's too bad their characters were nicer than the actors themselves as both were known to be quite the bullies backstage. That served no purpose other than diminishing you star power.

Well, at least they put on a great show for us, the fans. Thanks Rick and Scott.

Tag Team Dominance

31 of 46

Demolition, Ax and Smash.

I absolutely loved them! The most dominant team in WWE history and the longest reigning champions as well. It is so spectacular to watch one of their matches as we can clearly see the awesome chemistry these two shared with one another.

Even the entrance theme is one of the most addictive one. Very catchy. They even played it on the radio in Ax's hometown. Talk about dominant.

It's too bad they were forced to separate in the 90s as Bill Eadie (Ax) developed an allergy to shelfish while being champions thus forcing the WWE to bring in the not-so-hot Crush. The mix was a fail and even bringing back Mr. Fuji as their manager didn't succeed in restoring their lost glory.

Fortunately for us, we get to play as them in WWE'12 and reassert their dominance over all tag teams.

Here comes the Ax and here comes the smasher, we're Demolition, walking disaster.

Tag Team championship: three

The Pink and Black Attack

32 of 46

The Hart Foundation.

What is there to say about them? One of the most successful teams in history. My personal favorite. We have Bret Hart and we have Jim Neidhart...complete opposites yet so attuned to each other's style there was no way but up on their road to fame.

They started out as heels under the close watch of "The Mouth of the south" Jimmy Hart and defeated the great British Bulldogs to win the Tag Team titles in 1987. We grew to love their style and they became favorites and regained the belts from Demolition in an incredible match at SummerSlam 1990.

We all known what Bret did after that...just read his own slide in here if you don't.

The Pink and Black ruled! Let's just hope the children of this proud alliance gets to taste some measure of success too. Go Natalya, Harry Smith and Tyson Kidd!

Tag Team championship: two

The Ones That Set a Change in Motion

33 of 46

The Outsiders, Hall and Nash.

Put it this way, Pro-Wrestling would never be what it is today if it weren't for them.

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were part of the band known as "The Kliq" and when they departed to WCW in 1996, who knew they were going to change the landscape of the business forever.

They helped establish the New World Order along with Hulk Hogan and ruled the tag team world for years. No one could theoretically defeat them as Eric Bischoff, the president of WCW, would reverse the decisions in favor of the Outsiders. If you can't beat em...join em!

Now, Kevin Nash is back in WWE while Scott Hall is recovering slowly from his battles with drugs and alcohol. I wish him the best and hope he makes it this time.

Team Extreme

The Hardys, Matt and Jeff.

What would TLC matches have been without these two brothers? They put their bodies on the line and risked it all for the gold. It's true though, no risk, no glory.

Along with Lita, the Hardys marked the tag team and pro-wrestling world by giving us exceptional matches and awesome stunts the like we had never seen before. Each having his own style, both brothers have massed up an immense fan base and managed to gain prominent success as single Superstars as well.

Unfortunately, though we will never forget them, we will also remember them for their recent troubled years. Isn't it funny how one wrong can sometimes mar a whole legacy of greatness?

I hope they remain on the right track or at least find it real soon. Losing them to their demons would be a pity.

Tag Team championship: eight (one WCW and seven WWE)

PWI Tag Team of the Year (2000)

Jeff is the ninth GRAND SLAM Champion in history as well as the 18th Triple Crown Champion having won the WWE, Intercontinental and European championships at one time or another.

The Leaders of the New Millenium

35 of 46

Edge and Christian, plain and simple.

How did we all wish for a team reunion recently until Edge's forced retirement. They invented the TLC match format in my book. It that doesn't ring true then they are the one to have put it on the map.

Tag Team wrestling may be a shadow of what it once was but at the time of E&C, it was thriving and we could as well get excited by a Tag title match as we would a WWE one. Both had charisma and skill but what made them even more fantastic was the fact their were close friends, almost brothers and their chemistry would be duplicated by only a few others.

Now Edge is retired while Christian, not a favorite of mine, is still doing well and has manage to capture the World Heavyweight championship this year. They have definitely earned their place in the Hall of Fame someday and I believe it will happen sooner rather than later. I bet you once Christian retires and/or WrestleMania comes to Toronto again, we will see them honored as they should be.

Did I mention they are Canadians? Oh well...for the benefit of those with flash photography...

PWI Match of the Year (2000 and 2001)

Welcome to Dudleyville

36 of 46

The Dudley Boys, Bubba Ray and Devon.

D-Von!! Get the tables!!!!

That sentence was so awesome! Just like watching the poor victim going through the table seconds later. My favorite? Mae Young. What a great moment, kudos to the HoF for doing that. You are great Mae.

Adding the luscious Stacy Keibler to the mix later did them only justice.

ECW was a stranger in these parts back in the day so some of us only know the WWE incarnation of the Dudleys but we got the idea once we saw them in action. The "Attitude" era...what a perfect time for them to come in the picture.

The Dudleys practically shaped a decade, not a surprise they were named the team of the 00s decade.

They have since moved on to TNA and separated recently but their legacy lives on and someday perhaps, we will get to see them again on RAW.

Weren't they champions of all sorts of places at the same time back in 2001? Wow!

Tag Team championship: 10 (one WCW and eight WWE)

The D-Generates

37 of 46

The New Age Outlaws.

On this list? Oh you didn't know? Your ass better call somebody!

Another great duo straight out of the "Attitude" era. On their own before that they were Rockabilly and the real Double J....total Debbie Downer here!

Billy Gunn had already gained success as part of the Smoking Gunns tag team and toook home three championship at that time but it was with partner Jesse James a.k.a the Road Dog that he really shined not to mention being part of D-Generation X...a formula for greatness.

They both achieved moderate single success in between or after their pairing but honestly, the two meshed well together and still team up today occasionally.

It was by defeating the legendary Road Warriors through dastardly tactics they first took home the gold after all...not an easy task. They even impressed Shawn Michaels and Triple H with their sneaky ways.

Not bad at all. If you ain't down with that, they had two words for ya!

The Next Big Thing

38 of 46

Brock Lesnar.

Dubbed "the next big thing" when he arrived back in 2002 it wasn't hard to imagine where this one was going namely because of his amazing size.

He quickly captured the WWE championship and went on to dominate all opposition until his final match versus Goldberg at WrestleMania XX.

You would think he would be a stiff man but Brock was incredibly agile and powerful beyond measure. His patented "F5" finisher is one of the most devastating moves ever and John Cena modeled his own "F-U" after it.

While he didn't stay long with the company, Lesnar made his mark and will forever be remembered as one of the most successful Superstars ever. He is in the WWE'12 game and has but one regret: never having fought Steve Austin when he had the chance.

Can it be done? Will it ever happen? Outside the videogame, I really don't think so but hey...what do I know?

Until then, we can see Brock Lesnar destroy his opponents in the UFC arena...may God have mercy on their souls.

Eddie Guerrero...one of the greatest "small" guys in history.

Lie...cheat...steal...no problem Eddie! Just win baby!

He did and no matter how he did it, we all loved it. There is no telling what else Eddie Guerrero could have achieved has he lived today. His finisher was great, so were his mic skills and his in-ring ability. He could easily play the villain and the hero with such perfection you just had to be a fan of his.

You see, never ever doubt the little guy with the big heart. In the end, we always surprise everyone with our resolve.

His character won us all over with that famed "Latino Heat." Even Chyna fell for Papasito!

To this day, you are terribly missed Eddie.

The Ultimate Underdog

41 of 46

Rey Mysterio, the master of the 6-1-9 and the ultimate underdog.

The little guy with the immense following and the golden heart.

His career may be in danger due to severe knee injuries but don't count him out just yet. When he heals up, know that there are certain latino or masked Superstars out there that must be shown the way...he is the master.

There is no arena right now that doesn't have thousands of children sporting the legendary "luchador" mask. They sell like hot cakes despite their exorbitant price. Rey Mysterio has earned a place amongst the great once his career is over. I just hope it is not too soon.

Being put over by Rey Rey would do wonders for an up-and-comer like Cody Rhodes or The Miz...wait it already happened and look how good they've become.

It is hard to imagine what could happen if he and Sin Cara faced off at WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami. I get dizzy just thinking about it.

The Most Must-See Superstar in History

42 of 46

The Miz.

The Awesome One is my current favorite Superstar in WWE. The man and I share a lot of similarities whether it be fashion style, attitude or taste in French-Canadian women who are la crème de la crème...sorry California girls, you are no match.

He has risen to the top of the mountain and managed to stay there. Dubbed part of the future of this business by legends and Vince McMahon himself, no one can deny The Miz has worked his butt off to get there.

Like some others, he participates in many television shows, awards and charities plus promote his company everywhere he goes. He named himself the Most must-see WWE Superstar in history and hasn't disappointed yet...

Look for him to return to the title picture and perhaps even turn face in 2012. Most importantly, expect a great match with Mick Foley should all parties agree on it.

Things are looking good.

The Straightedge Superstar

43 of 46

CM Punk is the bringer of a new dawn in WWE...or so we want.

At one point he was the most hated Superstar on the roster and to suddenly dropped a "pipe bomb" and win us over in the process.

He calls himself the best in the world and to some extent, we can see why. His matches are great and his skills whether in-ring or on the microphone never fail to impress. Now rightfully thrust back into the WWE championship picture, CM Punk has a chance to re-establish his new order and usher in a new era in the company.

I can only hope his comments irritate one Chris Jericho enough to force his hand into returning in 2012. A program between the two would be absolutely perfect.

World title count: four (one WWE and three WHC)

The Legend Killer

44 of 46

Randy Orton.

The legend killer, the apex predator, the viper. Such fitting titles for such an incredible Superstar. Say what you want about him, there is no other like him. Tall, dark, sinister...I love it!

Those tattoos are so cool.

Randy Orton may get a lot of criticism for his attitude and lack of putting people over but again, there are so many people out there who are jealous and would destroy everything they could in order to feel high and mighty.

Don't get me wrong, I have watched my share of footage of his being a total A**H*** but you know what? Would any of us be different were we in his shoes?

I believe him to have had the best year of his career so far in 2011. He is out of the title hunt right now but instead has helped elevate future greats like Cody Rhodes and I believe Wade Barrett soon. That is quite honorable. It has to be done anyway and the Viper has the skills do do it.

There are years of career left in him. Unless he quits, gets injured or gets fired (yeah right), there is no telling how many more accolades this man can get.

Can he even surpass John Cena? Don't know for sure. They are unique in their own way.

World title count: nine (six WWE and three WHC)

The Face of the WWE and All Pro-Wrestling Today

45 of 46

John Cena a.k.a Superman or...the face of the business today.

He has surpassed all others in number or reigns, merchandise sales and perhaps here and there, number of fans in the world.

The top Superstar in WWE makes his presence known wherever he lands and though we may not love the character, we must certainly admire the man who has put himself out there for children through the Make-a-Wish foundation to name a few places.

John Cena has charisma. Winning the hearts of millions is not an easy task and on the other hand some people absolutely love to hate him and that works too. He doesn't care, he is a complete success.

Rise above hate...a lesson I need to learn every now and then. Thanks John.

A Long Line of Champions...

46 of 46

There is no telling what the future may hold.

Who else could be or will be put on this list? I leave some of that to you fans of WWE and Pro-Wrestling.

We can only think of the Dolph Zigglers, the Wade Barretts and Daniel Bryans of this world who work tirelessly to become great like their predecessors.

We all have our favorites and it is also up to us to support them. Good vibes go a long way and tuning in every week to the Monday show or the Friday show is the first step in the right direction.

Anybody can be a WWE Superstar or member of the roster but it takes the best of the best to become champion or to make lists like this for example.

You gotta want it so bad it hurts! Do you want it?
