Arsenal vs. Bolton: Complete Preview, Start Time and Schedule

Kyle VassaloSep 16, 2011

Arsenal and Bolton are both looking to avoid being pushed to the bottom of the English Premiere League. Arsenal has shown signs that they may be on the road to recovery, but Bolton is clinging for dear life with three losses already to their name.

This match is manageable for both sides. A win will be able to give either side hope for the future, while a loss will force this team to spiral out of control more than ever.

Biggest Storyline:

Can either of these teams compete in the EPL?

Clearly we aren't talking Manchester United vs. Chelsea, but both Arsenal and Bolton have the rest of their season to think about. For these teams, any win is a good win. They need to prove to the world and themselves that they aren't going to be an easy victory for their EPL opponents and that starts with notching easy victories.

Key Player to Watch for Arsenal: Robin Van Persie

One goal this season isn't enough from Robin Van Persie. He's Arsenal's best goal scorer, and if he isn't at his best, neither are the Gunners. Arsenal is on the brink of gaining back some respect, and the team will look to Van Persie to get it going offensively.

Key Player to Watch for Bolton: Ivan Klasnic

Ivan Klasnic already has three goals to his name this season. Arsenal is a beatable team, and if Klasnic can step up and build on his already impressive year thus far, Bolton might add to their win total.

Key Matchup: Arsenal's back line vs. Bolton's back line

This game will be a battle of the back lines. Both teams have shown they are susceptible to a huge blowout. The back lines may not collide directly, but rest assured, this match will come down to which back line is able to outperform the other.

What They're Saying:

"The cycle starts again because we have taken five players [towards end of the window]. But we have invested as well, our highest investment has been in [Alex Oxlade-] Chamberlain, a young player. We will not give up on our youth policy."

Arsene Wenger has been under fire from Arsenal fans, but it hasn't deterred from his philosophy. He's been around a long time, and it's good to see that he's still focused on building the team from the ground up, just as he always has been.

"We always know Bolton is a difficult place to come. We got an early goal and kicked on from there and it could have been more. First start with Chicharito (this season) and both scoring, that's great."

This is sort of a slap in the face to Bolton. Coming off of their 5-0 massacre of Bolton, Rooney said it could have been more. He starts off the comment by saying Bolton is a difficult place to come play and then takes a jab at their porous defense. It says a lot about how other EPL teams view Bolton.

Final Score

Arsenal 2, Bolton 1

Arsenal has the upper hand here. They have shown they can compete against beatable EPL teams, and that is exactly what Bolton is. Arsenal is getting back on track, and while Bolton has shown flashes of decent play, they aren't going to win this one.
