WWE Night of Champions: CM Punk vs. Triple H Time to Shut Up and Lace Up.

John KindelanSep 14, 2011

The voice of the people, CM Punk, will be taking on current COO Triple H this Sunday, September 18 in Buffalo at the Night of Champions event. A match that was originally slated to be CM Punk against Kevin Nash was changed after Triple H went to the WWE board and requested that he be allowed to face Punk instead of Nash.

Nash has since been fired from the WWE and has publicly stated on Twitter that it had nothing to do with his health, as he was cleared by doctors for competition. Nash further stated that he and the WWE could not come to a financial agreement.

Meaning he wanted a whole lot more than the WWE would pay him for a pay per view match.

But has Nash actually been released or is this all a ruse to continue the story? Will Nash make an appearance at Night of Champions and insert himself into the match? If so, will he attack CM Punk, who has slaughtered him week after week on the microphone, or will he attack his friend Triple H after firing him?

The possibilities of Nash showing up are high and would fall right along the lines of a similar story we've seen played out in the past.

The role of Stone Cold Steve Austin will be played by CM Punk and the role of Vince McMahon will be played by Triple H. The WWE knows that its fans enjoy a good working class hero taking on his boss and putting him in his place. To fuel that heat, the boss character typically has some lackeys, some muscle to follow him around so that he only occasionally has to get himself involved.

This opens the possibility of Kevin Nash arriving as an enforcer to Triple H's heel COO character.

If Kevin Nash doesn't make some sort of return at NOC, it has to be asked, what was the point of having him arrive in the first place?

Each week we see CM Punk come to the ring with his 'pipe bomb' a sign that we have another 10 minutes of ranting and raving from the voice of the people. This has been being followed with Triple H coming to the ring and giving his own ten minute monologue.

Week after week of attacks on the mic with no action, in the beginning with all the 'shooting' or truth telling going on it made it cool, edgy and exciting. Now its time to shut up and lace up the boots, stop with the low blows on the microphone and start with the devastating blows in the ring.

At least when this story was going on with Stone Cold and Vince most encounters ended with some stunners and or someone being taken away by security. This civil battle of wits is growing weak, and while these two are two of the best technical guys in the ring, they're killing their match with too much talk.

As for the outcome I'm giving this one to Triple H, for the simple fact that his COO character isn't done yet, and WWE has to realize at this point the audience was done with the whole anonymous General Manager bit and we need that 'boss' character as an adversary in the WWE.

Luckily we are just days away from the event on Sunday and another 'WWE open mic' night won't be taking place. Punk and Triple H should be a match for the ages, but when its talked about in such extent with little action, its like hearing your favorite song on the radio again and again, you just get tired of it already.
