Vitali Klitschko Proves He Is Greater Than Bernard Hopkins at 40

King JSep 10, 2011

Vitali Klitschko just utterly dominated the No. 3 heavyweight in the world, Tomasz Adamek, Saturday afternoon knocking him down a few times into the ropes.

The fight was a superb domination from the Ukrainian heavyweight champion Klitschko, who goes by the moniker Dr. Iron Fist. Vitali has proven that he has mastered the sweet science by using his high ring IQ by cutting off the ring verses chasing down his opponents wasting too much energy as he did in his younger years.

Ultimately the fight was stopped by the referee in the 10th round as he simply just saw enough of a one-sided beat down, where Adamek was not only running on fumes, but his true warrior heart was the only thing keeping him upright on his feet.

Vitali was trim and lean and lighter than he usually is in the ring preparing himself for a smaller faster opponent. What was most impressive was that Vitali is now 40 years old, and he is fighting better than ever. Destroying his much younger primed opponents throwing several punches a round like a true champion should.

This automatically makes me think of the comparison to Bernard Hopkins, who too is in his 40s at the age of 46. Yes Hopkins is even closer to 50, which is definitely impressive, hands down. However, I always say it's not if you win, it's how you win, at least when it comes to winning over the fans.

There's a reason why Vitali and his brother Wladimir sell out 50,000-seat soccer stadiums in Europe, and that's because they have true star power over there, especially in Germany and, of course, their true native Ukraine.

Vitali actually lives up to his moniker of Dr. Iron Fist. He holds the record for highest KO percentage in all of heavyweight boxing history.

Bernard Hopkins, however, is often hard on the eyes for most fight fans to watch. His fights are, for the most part, extremely boring with a lot of excessive hugging, dirty tactics such as headbutts, testicle punches, rabbit punches and kidney punches.

You name it, he does it to help himself win, and still his fights always go to a dreadfully long horrendous decision, causing many fight fans to question whether they should continue watching his fights and to even stop watching boxing all together.

Outside of the ring Vitali is a humanitarian with his many charities and causes. Vitali is a scholar with a PhD and able to speak as many languages as Manny Pacquiao has world titles in different weight classes. Vitali uses his fame for good, as he aims for politics to better his hometown of Kiev.

Hopkins, on the other hand, is often as dirty outside the ring as he is inside the ring, often using racial insults toward his Caucasian opponents, saying such infamous phrases as: "I will never lose to a white boy!"

Hopkins also even attacks other African-American fighters and athletes, claiming they are not true black folks, questioning their street credibility.

Many hardcore Hopkins fans tend to debate with me, but they never have a true answer as to why he is so boring or dirty inside and outside the ring.

Hopkins does, however, live a clean life without any alcohol, drugs, or even junk food. He is always in tremendous shape and in good physical health, which is what he should be praised for.

But when I see a man in his 40s beat up a much younger opponent so bad that the referee has to stop the fight, that is far more impressive and exciting to pretty much everyone.

Vitali Klitschko is the greater 40-something-year-old both inside and outside the ring than Bernard Hopkins.

Let's all be inspired to be as strong, healthy and in shape as these 40-something world champions when we get up there in age.
