New Orleans Saints: Can Drew Brees and Co. March to the Super Bowl?

Rob BeloteJun 1, 2018

Every year before the NFL season begins, I predict each of the 256 games on the NFL schedule, and from those predictions I come up with the records each of the 32 teams would have if the season progressed as I predicted. Invariably some of my predictions are WAY off, but it’s usually not the ones people criticize me for in early September.

So where did my predictions land the New Orleans Saints?

After losing in the opener to the Green Bay Packers, the Saints will go on a three game winning streak primarily because of sub-par opposition including the Bears, Texans and two of the worst teams in the NFL—the Panthers and Jaguars.

From there, the Saints will lose to the Buccaneers (splitting the season series with Tampa Bay), beat the Colts, Rams and then avenge the loss to Tampa.

The first time the Saints play the Falcons will be a loss for New Orleans, but starting Week 12, I've got the Saints winning all of their remaining games to blaze into the playoffs...

...unfortunately, they end up as a wild card team, with the Atlanta Falcons holding tie breakers to win the division.

The Saints will roll past the Cardinals in the first round of the playoffs, but then they face the Falcons for the third time this season, and because the game will be played in Georgia, I'm giving the edge to Atlanta to advance to the NFC Championship game.
