Biggest Storyline: Can Azulones Find Any Way to Stop Cristiano Ronaldo?
It didn't take long for Cristiano to get things started in La Liga campaign. A year ago, he scored 40 goals in 34 La Liga appearances, averaging over a ridiculous 1.17 goals per game.
Twenty-four minutes into the season, he found the net for the first goal in Los Blancos' season. Then, in the second half, he netted two more goals in the 71st and 87th minutes. Needless to say, Cristiano by himself was too much for Real Zaragoza.
Getafe gave up four goals to Los Blancos last time they played. They are coming off a game they dominated in terms of possession but couldn't capitalize. They'll have to find a way to counter Cristiano if they want to have any chance.
Player to Watch from Real Madrid: Mesut Ozil
Ozil's play has been so good that he's become first choice of former FIFA Player of the Year, Kaka.
The 22-year-old German is a gifted playmaker and assisted on 17 goals last season in addition to netting six of his own.
He added one assist in the win over Real Zaragoza and also scored already this year in Super Cup play.
Player to Watch from Getafe: Miku
The 26-year-old Venezuelan striker is a gifted goal scorer for the Spanish side.
He netted eight goals a year ago in La Liga, and he is off to a good start with one already this year. He's played for a number of different clubs so far in his career, but seems to have found a home at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
He'll be a key if Azulones want to hang with Los Blancos.
What They're Saying
Los Blancos, and every other club in La Liga and Europe alike, are chasing Barcelona. The Catalan giants are unlike any other club in the world, and UEFA president Michael Platini doesn't think anyone can emulate them.
Via Goal.com:
""It's difficult to emulate Barcelona's brand of football," Platini told Sky Sport Italia. "I think their way of playing can only be surpassed if other teams adopt different styles."
"
Jose Mourinho's side currently leads La Liga table with one more goal and will look to keep their style of play up with the match against Getafe.
They may not be Barca, but they're going to give them something to think about.
Prediction: Real Madrid 4, Getafe o
