The Ongoing Saga of Pacman Jones

Sean StancillFeb 1, 2008

Pac-Man used to be a household name, everyone's favorite videogame. I myself remember playing it in laundromats during the summertime, but now it sits in a dark corner isolated and waiting to be reinstated with a quarter.

But the other Pacman ran into yet another speedbump today in his return to the NFL

Adam ''Pacman'' Jones has learned that he will most likely not be reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Jones was anticipating being back in the league after the Super Bowl.

The Titans already have made the decision to shop him around the league immediately following his reinstatement, but cannot do so until he is allowed back into the league.

Jones has had multiple run-ins with the law every year since he entered the NFL in 2005. Jones last played in the 2006 season, in which he started 15 games for the Tennessee Titans. While Pacman has not been playing he has enjoyed being a Tag Team Champion with wrestling company TNA, and recorded a collaboration album with the group PosterBoyz that was produced by his own record label National Street League Records.

Jones is definitely trying to keep himself busy but the damage may have already been done. Jones has been involved in over 10 incidents with police and the NFL (combined), most recently with hitting a woman in a Atlanta nightclub January 15, 2008. The charges were later dropped.

Early in the NFL season, Jones purchased ad space in a local Tennessee newspaper to publicly apologize for all the prior wrong-doing he had done and promised he would change his ways. He also made a promise to Goodell saying ''It won't happen again'', referring to any illegal activity not condoned by the NFL.

I believe Jones will be reinstated to play someday in the NFL and when he does I know one man who will take a shot on him: Al Davis.

The Raiders' owner has already shown he's willing to gamble on players—Randy Moss, Warren Sapp, Daunte Culpepper to name a few—and Jones' personality and skill level would be welcomed by the silver and black.
