Manchester City Close to Finalizing Aguero Deal; Robben Injured Again?
According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City are moving closer to signing Sergio Aguero for a club record fee. Fox News Latino reports the player is in England to undergo a medical to complete the deal.
This is the first major signing for the blue half of Manchester, which has seen United spend a lot of money on three players this summer.
Sergio Aguero arriving at Manchester City is more than a statement, as he represents the first real big player who comes to Manchester not for money. City are still haunted by the Kaka transfer embargo, who decided not to move to City despite the club agreeing a £100 million fee with Italian Serie A giants AC Milan.
The absence of Champions League football proved to be a major factor in Kaka deciding not to join Manchester City, but armed with the power of the finest club competition in the world, they are close to signing a real superstar.
Despite being only 23 years old, Sergio Aguero has a wealth of experience that has seen him amass over 200 appearances so far in his career, the majority of it coming in La Liga.
The fee is thought to be in the region of £38 million, which probably does not mean anything to the owners. However, they would think that it is money well spent, as it provides them with the bargaining tool for the transfer of Carlos Tevez.
Despite all this experience, Sergio Aguero is still unproven in the Premier League. Hence, City may be tempted to keep Carlos Tevez at least for a few seasons until Aguero finds his feet.
Chelsea and Real Madrid were thought of as being the first choices for Aguero, but signing the Argentinean clearly shows that City are extremely close to arriving at the big stage. One should not be surprised if they have the capability to attract the likes of Messi and Ronaldo within the next few years.
Finding at least one season in which Arjen Robben has not been injured would be difficult.
If you thought that the upcoming Bundesliga 2011-12 season may offer a chance to see an injury-free Arjen Robben, then those chances look to be diminishing as well.
Reports have suggested that Arjen Robben has suffered a serious ankle injury, which could keep him out for months. However, the star has played down such rumours that the injury was not as serious as first thought.
Serious or not, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery represent the world-class talent at the Bundesliga club. However, they have had to do without them for most of the time.
Even though when they both are fit and in form, they produce a deadly combination of pace and skill, Bayern Munich could really do with some players who can play at least 45 games a season.
A Frank Lampard kind of player is what Bayern Munich should be looking for at the moment. It is probably the only way they are going to recapture the title, while also strengthening their position in Europe at the same time.
