TNA News: Spike TV Contemplating Majority Ownership of TNA

Gone Baby GoneJun 27, 2011

According to wrestleheat.com, Spike TV, TNA's cable home for Impact Wrestling, is looking at making a bid on the company.

The news comes on the heels of UFC's rumored departure from the cable company.

As several sources, including fighters.com have reported, Spike's UFC deal ends this year, which leaves a big hole in their programming, as UFC was essentially the flagship programming for Spike.

If this deal goes through, this would be huge for TNA, as they definitely could use some direction to help right the sinking ship. Current owners Panda Energy have done all they could to help the TNA's ratings and status.

Since 2010 alone, they brought in Jeff Hardy, Ken Anderson, RVD, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.

That alone should have made an impact (pun intended).

However, it didn't. Instead it left TNA with more overhead and fan aggravation. Now, TNA's woes are so bad that they need to do a major roster overhaul in order to save some money.

However, if Spike steps in, they may be able to save some jobs, or at the very least cut the wasted money. Guys like Hogan, Bischoff and now even Jeff Hardy are burning TNA dollars and not bringing anything to the table.

Hopefully this is not just an Internet rumor and this will actual come to fruition. I am not usually a fan of networks being that involved in their TV shows, but in this case, it will probably do more good than harm.
